I don't disagree with you I was just saying what the DOT inspector told me that they give you two inches when they measure. I am good with regulations and if I were taught what it meant by no more then "one inch of play" and other things to look for and not just taught how to pass the DMV test which is not like a safety inspection then this would have never happened.
I have always leaned more to the safe side then not just from being a career firefighter on your equipment. I never have in the past operated anything that was knowingly unsafe and would not this time since I am not the only one in the truck or on the road. As we use to say "Everybody Goes Home!"

not true, the DRIVER is responsible. Schools get ticketed around where i live all the time the students allways get the points and fines. They taught you before they ever let you sit in the trucks YOUR responsible to inspect the equipment before driving it. I do agree that the schools should be takeing better care of the crap they use but still....

what is not true?

that the points arent on you. You drove a POS, you got caught, you earned the points.

I have said all along I had the 6 points given to me. I think others felt that it wasn't right but it is what it is. I drove what they told me to drive in class and I didn't know enough to know I was driving something that the brakes needed to be adjusted on which was an easy fix if I had only been taught as much early on. I'll take the points but I came to learn from this school and not the hard way.

Told the company that I am going to orientation with about this and they told me "it's all good" and they thought it was a crock also. Took my final DMV test yesterday and passed so I will be off to orientation next week. Now the true adventure begins.

When I first moved here from Canada I had to re-do my Canadian Class1 to a CDL by taking a driving test administered by a "driving school". They had me set up with an old fuel tanker. On my pre-trip walkaround I found several "problems", including a nice big crack in the frame just ahead of the tandems. Pointed that one out as "An obvious reason why this trailer would never be allowed out on the road in this condition". The visibly embarassed "instructor" muttered something about them using it only as an example of the bad things to look for". Uh huh, right.

Anyways, FF, you handled this pretty well IMHO. Good luck on your future endeavors.
