For those that have a TV, PS3, Xbox, and the like, how do you keep your idle time within the percentage? Also, do you actually have the time to use it enough to justify it being on your truck. I'm thinking about bringing my console out, but just not sure that I would have the time to use it, or that I would constantly be paying to idle to keep the juices flowing. What do you think?

My trainer had an LCD tv and a ps3. He would have to idle after an hour and a half or so for 30-45 min in order to get another hour. I personally have my laptop with me. I only had to idle after 8-10 constant hours of use. You can get a USB device that will let you hook to the coax for tv signals.

in an effort to save on power and idling, i'm thinking about replacing the ps3 (slim model, around 230 watts) hdd with a solid state drive. they're expensive, but it should use less energy because it has no moving parts. plus, i hear that it actually improves the performance in some cases.
the other thing i'm looking into is the sony personal 3d viewer...it's basically a wearable hdtv. at $800, it's a very expensive, but it only uses 120 volts. people rightly say that you can buy a full sized hdtv for that much, but for truckers who have limited space...this might be perfect.
the other options i was looking into for ps3 monitors is a Gaems (not a typo, really spelled Gaems) G155, Hori portable monitor, or once i get a laptop...some tv tuner/video capture thing (Hauppage, Roxio, whatever) that'll let me plug the ps3 into the device using component (hdmi doesn't exist...probably because of piracy concerns) video cables.
the capture card route might be the most energy conserving in the long run because it'll be using the laptop's batteries...and you could always get extra batteries for later recharging while driving (well, at least i hope you can).
i'm really considering the wearable hdtv though because since the monitors (one for each eye, that's why it's also 3d) in those glasses sit so close to your eyes, it's like having your own personal movie theater. you can use it for whatever else uses hdmi like the xbox, dvd/blu ray, maybe even a laptop but that might be hard if u suck at typing and need to look at a keyboard. the major complaint i read about them is that they get heavy after a while and that they have a cheap, flimsy feel to them. i might not be too concerned about the weight since i'll probably just lie down while using them. i am concerned about the quality...for something portable like that and costing around $800...it should be a bit more durable. hopefully, sony or some other company will make a better model soon.
anyhow, i'm not even employed yet so it's all just basically a wish-list.

Hey Captain, who do you go through for the Netflix on the phone, and is your plan unlimited? I have unlimited with ATT, at least until they decide that I am using too much and they degrade my signal.
