Hey all, been a while sense I've been on. Been extremely busy. I'm curious if a Freightliner FLD120 hood can be fitted to a XL Classic 84" cab and sleeper doing away with the Classic look trying to keep the FLD look and want to make it all work on a frame of atleast 270". No visible air filter cans, stacks in the back instead of behind the doors, new straight 10 tranny, Cummins ISX (meeting the new emissions standards) etc just like in my picture shows except with the 84" instead of the standard 70". Anyone know where a good starting point would be?

Why on earth would you kill a Classic XL like that? Please explain.

I think it would be a lot easier to strecth the sleeper on the FLD and repower it. Reengineering the front end on a Classic would be a major undertaking. There is alot more to it than just replacing the hood.

    Skunk_Truck_2590 and DrtyDiesel Thank this.

I don't really care for the needle nose hood and rounded fenders. I've sat in a couple of classics but I just prefer the FLD hood. Besides, it would be something that no one else has. I've never seen one setup like this but is my ultimate dream truck.

Thats what I had thought at first but wasn't sure. Reason why is because I want the extra space and the fold down booth that the 84" has. So basically taking 2 FLD cabs, cut the back off the one I want to use then salvage what is needed from the other one to make the extension. Wonder how much the upholstery will run.

I think you just took a power belt sander to the cheap bone in my body .....

To each thier own fella, but the sleeper improvement and nice new kitty cat or a dewey dinger deluxe 60 in it will be the most effective...

Well, uncle sam was kind to me this year plus I made the wise decision of having extra withheld from my check each week, needless to say in the least it was an amount large enough that my wife and I both were packing. I took it all home in cash. I have a trust issue with banks. I will be doing a good bit of the work myself so it will take some time. I'm not in a big rush or anything but will have to hire someone for the aluminum welding. I'm looking around now at cabs. Probally have to contact Freightliner for a frame but need to get it all out on paper first and formost.
