I actually failed a driving test for a company because I double clutched for the ride, so that's not always the best advice. Since then I made it a point to ask them what they wanted.
I will admit that this was the craziest road test I had ever done, and the tester really had no business doing that job. Also failed for stuff that had zero importance in driving a truck and for noticing/practicing stuff that was important. However, the thing to remember is that just because this guy was crazy, doesn't mean that whoever might test you won't be just as crazy. -
Anymore that's all I do is float because the trks will beat ya up in time. But if I can't get it into gear I will double clutch because that's how I was taught and it's always stuck with me.But remember a semi with a maual transmission is nothing like a car.You only have to step down on the clutch 1 inch not all the way to the floor.I change gears at 1500 rpms.

It's up to the company....Some will some won't....Ask first...It never hurts to ask...
No different when we had real controls on backhoes...Not this joystick crap they have today with "Electronic Touch"...
You had to know how to run Case controls and Sherman controls...Cat controls and John Deere Controls...
So as a pro driver..You have to know how to Double-Clutch and to float.... -
My trainer won't let me shift until 1700 rpm. He said you lose too much momentum.

What are you driving, a Freightliner with a Detroit diesel? If so, then he is right IMHO.
