one of my classmates told me that he has a good blood pressure level. a few hours before he went in for the dot physical, he worked out in a gym. in the end, he probably failed the dot physical because of that. in the final instructions...it says that 2 hours prior to the pre work screening, one shouldn't eat a heavy meal, avoid rigorous activity, avoid stimulants (caffiene, nicotine, diet aids, cocaine), avoid cold/allergy meds for at least 24 hours, and wear loose clothes. basically, don't do anything that'll raise your blood pressure.
i read somewhere that a 15 minute hot shower or stay in a sauna lowers your blood pressure for a few hours. i'm gonna try that, i figure a lower blood pressure means that the heart doesn't have to work as hard? just wake up early, do some light stretching, shower (maybe even take a nice, hot bath), and just try to relax.

I guess if you're in really bad shape. All that is sound advice.
I smoked, drank coffee (lots of it) and kept a Mtn Dew on the table the whole time.
I've been told by more than one Doctor, that I have a "very" serious caffeine addiction. So I guess 2 or 3 cups before a physical would have little impact on my BP or heart rate. -
My problem was that my legs are so weak from surgery and I have NO stamina.
On the step test I failed to do one single step. Luckily the PT they had was awesome and gave me some great advice on how to regain strength from head to toe.
I moved on to Trans Am who doesn't require any kind of tests. -

No offense, and I hope you regain your strength, but serious question. Are you able to operate a clutch pedal over and over again such as in traffic? -
He just needs enough leg to push the brake and the gas. Trans Am runs autos.

yea but if his legs are that weak, he is gonna have trouble just climbing in and out of the truck. Not to mention what happens when he goes to pick up a 44k trailer, and the yard dog has it jacked up and he needs to put his legs into the trailer legs to get them to lower to hook up???
-
Yep, if your still that weak I'd suggest doing physical therapy and leg exercises to get them back into shape before getting into trucking.

good luck jack...you'll get used to it again. i'm sure you'll probably be hating life until then, but you'll get used to it.

i went to tokyo on a trip with my mom a few years ago. people walk everywhere over there and i since i rarely did, i was sore every night. but, after a few days, it got easier. i'm sure you'll get used to it too.

I can't wait any longer.
I got in and out of the cab multiple times a day over the course of a month at school and had little trouble. Clutching and braking weren't a problem either. TA runs auto's anyway and my plan is to gain as much strength as I can before moving on.
