Ok so lets do the math on a 500 mile trip that takes 2 hrs to load and 2 hrs to unload.

You make .35 p/mile, and say an hourly rate of 15 p/hr for accessorials.

    Trip pays $175.

2 hrs to load (no pay)
2 hrs to unload (no pay)
.5 hrs for pre-trip (no pay)
.25 hrs to fuel ( no pay )

Total of 4.75 hrs not paid but is "built in to mileage rate"

    So 4.75 x 15 =71.25

    175 - 71.25 =103.75

    103.75 / 500 =.20

Your real mileage rate is .20 p/mile, well that equates to about 10 p/hr.

Wonder what the pay is at McDonalds?????

Heh! Just think, you'd get the same crap they feed to truckers at $7 or $8 a meal for free as a benny! Maybe we oughta start chargin' McD's detention for the long wait in line!!!

What if every career field paid like truck drivers pay?

If business is slow, there is no dispatch. Why are the dispatchers and load planners getting paid?

Why are the drivers the only employees expected to "suck it up" and starve?

This is why having a weekly guarantee is so important for a driver. It is a safety net to stabilize driver pay during slow periods.

Because the fat cats in congress... who are being paid by the fat cats in trucking say so. You're labor is considered unskilled, and they have a labor law exemption for trucking scum.

So... you really think that congress is going to do anything about it any time soon?

i see this as not dentention pay, he says he sat on the load 4 days, so until you hit the dock , you do not get paid, i would ask about this policy in any trucking company, thats why i have a backup plan, called savings and refill it once the truck going again, yes you do not get pay too sit, but if you plan it right, mayby your truck needs work and right around the corner is freightliner, get okay from everyboby, drop it off and go on mini vac , see the sites, just a thought
