My truck has a Detroit 60 Series in it. I replaced my muffler yesterday and while I had it off, I ran the engine to hear what it sounded like. It wasn't loud like I thought it would be.
Does it have some type of catalytic converter or something else keeping it quiet like the turbo?

Hmmm, why not look?
If there is just 5" exhaust tubing from the turbo to the elbow that the muffler sits on, then nothing else is in there.
If there is another muffler looking thing between the turbo and the silencer, then you have the expensive setup.
Didn't think Detroit put them on until 2010 though, but may well be wrong on that one.

Yeah it's just a long straight shot to the muffler. Thought maybe that was some type of built in converter. It's not loud at all, but it moves some air!

The turbo quiets them down a lot

If it is just pipe, then you have nothing there.
If you want to really hear it, go drive it!
My muffler broke at the mount a few years ago and i drove it over Donner to get to the Petro in Nv to repair it myself. It was deafening when under a load!
