Ok here is what I have going on I have a 1999 pete 379 with cat 3406e engine in it with a 13sp eaton. I have couple of questions.

The Sticker on the motor says it's a 475 CAT how would I verify that it's really a 475hp truck.

The engine was supposedly rebuilt less then 1500 miles ago, the guy had the paper work for it. With all the maintenance records.

    First

What temp does it usually should run when driving. Right now it's running at 195-200 range when I am climbing a 6% grade it's running at 205+- 3-4 degrees with fan on. Mind you this is in 7 degree temp's going up grapevine. This is in 5 gear +half going 25mph. With rpm's at 1650-1750 range. If thats too much... how do I bring it down and what could be causing it

What speed do you guys climb a 6% grade... I am fully loaded with 9 cars with a weigh in at 78+ pounds. Whats considered normal, my buddies pete can do that hill at 35+ with 9th gear he supposedly has a c15 500hp with the same load.

What should be the turbo boost pressure I have a manifold gauge. When climbing a 6% grade. Whats should be the pyro reading.

    Second

Where can I test the output of the engine in fontana ca area. Is there are any shops that have a dyno for these things. And be able to tune this engine. And where I can get a oil analysis done in fontana area.

    Third

I am having fuel leveling problems... the fuel draws from the left tank faster then the right tank. Even tho the right tank is smaller. I've checked the vents and the gas cap seems to be ok. Any other ideas on what it could be. I've also replaced the return splitter the one that sits next to the tranny.

    Forth

Where can I get the drain valve from the water/fuel separator.... mine was leaking air into the fuel. The stealership wants to sell me the whole cup that sits below the filter/separator assembly. All I need is the drain valve. The brand is racor.

    Fifth

When I start the engine there is a bit of smoke that comes out... it's white/grey/blueish in color.... but it's only on the first start of the day after it's been sitting for a couple of hours or over night. What could that be.

Since it's been rebuilt I don't think it should do that. Unless ?

    Sixth

I can't seem to turn the heater inside... I checked the valves they all seem to be open, and I feel the pressure inside the hoses going to the cab, and from the cab. The heat works fine when I first start the engine and let it warm up to 150+... later in the day it seems to stop. When the temp reads 195+200 range there is no more heat coming from the heater.

Thank you guys so much. I am new so if I asked some stupid things sorry, but I did the usual google and stuff and could not come up with anything reliable. Thank you again.

Rush Pete on cherry has a dyno or did.the smoke sounds like you might have a valve seal leaking if it is indeed blueish smoke just cause its got a fresh overhall dosent mean they used quality parts or dident get a deffective part. Sounds like the actuator under the right kick panel for the hot/cold door might be acting up

is that actuator electric or vacum pressure activated ?

The engine temp is right, I just replaced my thermostats and that's what it runs at. I've got a 2000 3406E. They are 190 degree thermostats.

Engine temps are right , dont let it get over 225 , the fan should kick on @ 217
1500 rpm is enough to get full HP and not over rev the engine . 1600 is plenty 1700 is pushing it . Your buddies gear ratio might be diff then yours? Pyro should NOT exceed 800-900 degrees , when you get above that it gets dangerous.
Boost pressure can vary , mine runs 36 LBS max.
Return lines must be the same diameter, check for any low spots in the line as well
drain valve should be avail at a wrecking yard.
smoke could also be injector cups leaking
pure white is a water leak (head gasket)

If your cooling system is getting aerated, it often shows up by aerating the heater core and you have no heat until the air bleeds out of the core.
