Removed the yoke off the input shaft of the powerdivider. Noticed you can move the shaft up and down as it has play in it. How much play should it have bearing in there looks ok. Should i pull the whole rear out or just the powerdivider section?
Eaton powerdivider end play

It should have zero play. What series Eaton? Such as DS....Did you remove a bearing retainer with shims to inspect the bearing? No need to take it down that far for this issue. You just need to make a shim adjustment where the bearing preload is adjusted.

Optimally none, as play appears the bearing is wearing out. You can adjust typically by removing shims from the bearing cage for the input on the IAD. Eaton's service limits depend on the exact rear end.

How many miles on it? The power divider cluster gears may be worn out as early as 600,000 on the Eaton. Take pinion off and remove cover from power divider to inspect. Replaced mine along with the bearings. Had local shop press bearings off and new ones on for me. You'll need a dial indicator to set end play. Anaerobic sealant works well on cover. Also put new o-rings in cylinder that applies power divider and new seal on pinion.

Did you have the play before you took the yoke off? You are dealing with two tapered roller bearings the nut and yoke hold the bearings together and need to be on and tight to check end play. Depending on model you can have up to .018 in and out end clearance.
