Word around is that Walmart is seriously looking at doing away with their fleets. The rate cutters are at it again.

Your father's making $80,000. per year and he's complaining? He might make that much working for Walmart or Shoprite if he puts in 70 hours a week....not $150,00 - $200,00. per year, lol. Only O/O's make that kind of money and it's gross income. They might clear $50,000. - $60,000 per year after taxes and expenses.
It sounds like neither one of you know too much about the pay scale in trucking. Tell your old man to stick to what he's doing if he likes to make good money or work for one of the outfits you named and make less but with benefits.
    $150 - $200, 000 per year driving for a company...:biggrin_2559:

ok first off 100,000 a year is nothing to sneeze at. two the benefits would be a big thing for me but i still can't see your dad sticking around if the position was truly that bad. as for walmart. go to their website. click on careers and then drivers. and go from there. its a long process and not that easy to get on but once your there its a job leave by retiring from, not quit from.

The guys making 150-200k at shop-rite are independent contractors that own their own trucks. In fact, it's been a while, but there aren't any Wakefern(the distrobution side of Shop Rite) drivers, they contract it out to other companies like Food Haulers and some o/o.
If you're dad is making 80-100k as a company driver, he is doing better than 98% of the other company drivers. Walmart guys don't talk money, but they average around 80k per year. They are also very hard to get on with.

If you're dad can buy a truck and has an "in" with Wakefern, I'd highly suggest he do it. They do make really good money and are home every night. Of course delivering to stores like Passaic will make him earn his money.
