1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

Ya I know living space is hard down there but luckily I've got a couple buddies down there I can crash with. But I'd rather be living in the truck making that money!

Well, today I went and filled out apps with Nabors and Thomas Fuels. There was a guy from Thomas HQ there and we chatted a bit. He said they can do a 3 week on, 1 week off if need be, and that I should hear from them next day or so. After I left Thomas, I got a call from Nabors, and have an interview scheduled for tomorrow! They have housing available in Iraan and Ozona, so that is definitely a plus I figure I'll wait to see what both offer as far as housing, pay and schedules before I go with one.

I tell ya, the past few days have been a whirlwind of thoughts, the unknown, and emotions....today I'm feeling really confident that this endeavor, may just work out!

Not yet...but from what the guy from Nabors said on the phone, they could have me start next week, as long as the interview goes good.

If I already have my Hazmat endorsment.
    Homeland security clearance.
Why will it take another two weeks for another check? :biggrin_255:

Much appreciated! I can go a few weeks longer without work, if I have to, but the housing issue can't be put off for too long. I can go a few more days camping where I'm at, but they don't want a long term tent deal. If worse comes to worse, I can stay with some family in DFW area...gas for that commute is cheaper compared to the motel rates for a night.

If ya do make it down, wish ya luck as well..ya might wanna try Nabors and Thomas like I did....don't waste your time with Baker Hughes...they only want you to fill out an online app.

    Oh yea..bring 'summer' clothes...was 91 here today.

Was that a particular position at Thomas you applied for? I know a couple of people that might want to try a schedule like that. They think so anyway.

Nabors might be a good bet. Don't know about the other yards but the one here in Sonora has lost a few drivers recently. I think mostly to other companies for a bit more money.

Good news! The interview with Nabors went well, and I got offered a job if I want it. My main concern was housing, and he is going to follow up with yards that have such available...the down side is, their schedule will be 4 on 1 off and on 2 off....which would suck for being able to see my family...he understood my concerns and wanted me to think about it, and call him Monday with my answer, and to see what they can do for housing. I'm hoping I hear from Thomas before then, and take their offer since they have a better schedule that would get me a week off.

The Odessa position at Thomas would be fuel transport. They don't do much frac fueling, but it does come up on occasion. Since I am new, the guy I spoke with said they would likely start me on a bobtail to get some road time in, which would be fine by me.

As for Nabors, I interviewed at the Iraan yard, but it's wait and see for which yard I will end up working out of.
