You take your chances there.
Yes......They will put you under a load even if you don't want it.
You are there, you take the load.
They also use a "screening service" called THE PROFESSIONAL DRIVERS BUREAU OF CANADA. It is basically a data base/DAC for Canadian drivers(you sign a consent form for Medical,Credit and work history checks that are permanently kept on file by the bureau).
Erbs turnover is high enough that they can use someone else to do the back ground checks and if they fire you or you quit they can say pretty much whatever they like about you in your file for the next company that might use the "screening service".
Simply for this reason.......I would avoid them.Stringlessyoyo Thanks this. -
In my experience with Erb, they have given me a choice on loads when they can, but if its the only load and it needs to go and I am the only one, then I guess I am taking it. I look at it if we dont move the loads we are going to p of customers and then have no work. I dont recall any big carrier that doesnt have reference checks. Calling the companies directly or going through a screening service. If you do a good job then you dont have to worry about reference checks is the way I look at it...
I completed a survey for Erb for the Best Fleets to Drive For and I saw in Truck News they were recognized as a top 20 fleet in North America. I guess allot of us must have felt that way. I know they have won the Canadian retention award a couple of times too so high turn-over is far from the truth.
They have been good to me! (many more good days then bad ones)

I would consider Erb to be one of the best if not the best outfits to work for.
Very low turnover rate with an excellent safety rating. They won't hire just anyone either.
Top of the line equipment and drivers as well as O/O's very well treated.
Owned and run by HONEST people! I put in 10 plus years with them and was treated well.
Just do a good job of what is expected of you and you have nothing to worry about.Stringlessyoyo, Prairie Boy and sixpackbill Thank this. -

Anyone know much about ERB's US operations?
There's a small terminal near me looking for people, I never knew until just now they were part of a larger Canadian conglomerate.
(I thought it was a small, farm based 'mom & pop', my bad.)
Do they require a lot of cross-border work? or can you stick to the lower 48? Can I expect to be regional, local or OTR?
Thanks. -
90% of there work is cross border
