I'm curious...Roehl claims that 2,400-2,500 is the normal average miles per week...what are the current drivers averaging? And how long have you worked for Roehl?
    Thanks

The national average is 2300 a week. I would budget for 1800 to 1900 a week and then anything over that is gravy. When I was company I did the 7/4-7/3 and still averaged almost 1900 during the worst of the recession.

Thanks! And if it matters, I'm signing on for national 11-14/3...
so it's looking like roughly 2300 so far...I assume there's a fair amount of sitting and waiting for dispatch, un/loading, etc. Regular 34 resets included?
    Yup, I'm a PITA tonight. :biggrin_2559:

I looked at my pay statements for the past few years and I seem to get about 2250 average. Some weeks it's 2800+ and some weeks it's 1750. Just seems to depend on if I'm lucky enough to be sitting in the right place at the right time. Last week I got about 2500 and I sat all day Sunday, so it just depends.

If you had a good running truck and stayed out for 3 weeks you could average 2800 easy. But that was a year ago when I drove for them

    hey T

in a perfect world you won't need a reset if you're out national on a 11-12 day schedule. i've found that a 34-hour reset during my time out will just cost me money, as the time i lose being idle typically isn't paid back by enough additional miles before i go home.

the only time a reset definitely pays is when you've been driving so many hours that you run out of your 70 several days early. in that case the reset doesn't hurt at all, because you can't drive any more even if you wanted to. so you can kick back and get some rest.

    which you will need.

I agree that you should only reset if you have no other options. As far as average miles, you should budget for a paycheck of 1800-1900 miles per week. That way you won't be caught short. When you do have better weeks, put some of that money away for weeks when miles are not so great. The stretch from mid December into mid Feburary can be a long spell with soft miles even in good times. A little time spent planning ahead can be a great benefit.

    Here's mine: 3-17 to 3-23 2418 miles
    3-10 to 3-16 2480 miles
    3-3 to 3-9 2399 miles
    2-25 to 3-2 1007 miles
    2-18 to 2-24 2459 miles
    2-11 to 2-17 2868 miles
    2-4 to 2-10 1964 miles
    1-28 to 2-3 2805 miles
    1-21 to 1-27 2669 miles
    1-14 to 1-20 2539 miles
    1-7 to 1-13 2363 miles
    12-31 to 1-6 2292 miles
12-24 to 12-30 2733 miles (week of Christmas)

So there's some factual information. This includes my hometime of course (actually I was off basically all of last week but delayed being paid so that is why it appears around 2500 every week. If you wanted to get a accurate average then just add all the miles up and then divide by the number of weeks I listed...I would but it's time for this guy to get to bed.

When I do a reset on the road I try to deliver in the evening, sit for a day and then run starting the morning of the next day. That way I'm only down for one day and the usual overnight rest periods. Just enough time to do some grocery shopping and laundry.
