Been with the same company for about a year now. Got a good run and usually can figure out issues on my own. I never hear from my terminal unless it's a general message sent out over the EOBR.

The issue I have is anytime I have a question it's like pulling teeth to get a answer. I understand I'm not the only driver in this company and don't expect a immediate response but getting one period seems almost impossible. I don't call or drive people nuts and haven't missed any days or refused any loads since I've been here so I think I'm somewhat valuable as a employee. Is this just normal?

If the question was sent over the EOBR, yes it's normal. Depending on how important the question is, I would personally send more messages or call my DM.

I'll e-mail or call. I don't ask if it's not important to me.

One thing to do to make it in the trucking indusrty is MAKE IT PERSONAL WITH YOUR DM!!!!!! Get them to care about you. Buy them lunch. Talk about things that make him/her click. Every DM i ever had ended up bieng very good to me. I have the gift of gab. And it has helped me dearly. Your just a number if your DM doesnt care.

I send stupid messages, gotta send a goal message everytime I back, so I occasionally talk about how it reminds me of soccer, which is bad cause its the sport of pansies, gets a chuckle, or have big convo's with my dm over the phone, as he has things in common with me, i just have to be careful about what I say at times to make sure I dont swear or say something derogatory to some sect of society

I agree with building a personal relationship with your DM. I've done this at every company I worked for, and you will quickly become one of your supervisors favorite employees. You'll end up being the 1st person they turn to when something needs to be done.

Supervisors hate employees that cause drama. They don't even give a 2nd thought about the ones that just do their thing to earn a paycheck. They love employees that make their job/day go by easier.

Hmmm they will figure out who the work horse, and who is just ridin. Take a bad load if need be but make sure they know that this is only business, you make them money, they make you money, that is understood in most business transactions being nice can come later when the job is done.....

keep sending messages if you ask questions that pertain to the job and dont get answered there is a record of this and cannot be deleted out of the system.

Very bad habit to start "gifting" your dispatcher. Pretty soon he expects it from you and everybody else. Always starts off small and friendly like but before too long he's dropping hints about "I think this load's worth a $20 or two, don't you?".

Think I'm kidding? When management finds him out (and they will) it's considered theft and a fireable offence... you too since you partook.
