I am looking at starting trucking i've been a deliviery driver for 2 years and love driving. I dont mind long drives the lonest drive i've done yet is 18 straight hours from RI to TN (only took so long because we had a slow driver in the group) but i always enjoy being on the road.

Yep driving a tractor trailer is not like driving a car. It was way more tiring mentally and physically than I thought. I still cant see how guys with families do this. Imagine if something came up at home and you cant be there, it would drive me nuts

The first question I must ask is; do your legs, ankles, feet, swell badly when sitting for extended periods? If the answer is yes, I suggest another career choice. Or work a local job where you're out of the driver seat a lot.

the answer i have no problem sitting down extended periods of time they dont swell, no need for family time and i am basicly a hermit as it is i live and exist in my room away from everyone and anyone. the only thing that might be difficult is learning how the big rigs handel compaired to the other vehicles and trailers i've driven. but i have more patience than most people do but i sapose it's thing i will have to experience to fully get the grasp. the only expericne i have is a few tag alongs with my dad when i was younger from CT to maine

If you can blind back a heavy loaded 53' trailer uphill on a congested Chicago street in the dark and freezing rain with no leg swelling and w/o burning out the clutch there might be hope for you Sakaimi

I've been driving for over a year and I won't do that.
