Hey.. I've been reading this post as well as a few others about PRIME. I'm considering jumping on a leased truck as a 2nd seat driver. Meaning, I'm not responsible for truck pymt, fuel, etc. The truck would be ran as a TEAM, not just a ride-along.

Anyone have anything good or bad to say about this arrangement? I mean from what I understand, I would have no responsibilities other then make miles and make money.

What do ya'll think? PM me if you wish!!...

    Just my opinion. Bad move.

Correct me if I am wrong. Your pay is dispensed by the #1 seated driver, after all the other bills are paid...maybe before. If there is enough left.

I know several Prime drivers who took on another driver to increase their mileage/pay, all have since turned in their trucks, and moved on.

If it's a husband/wife or bf/gf thing. It might work out. Otherwise, I wouldn't do it.

    Once again...just my opinion.

If you are paid by prime then go for it, team opperations are money makers and it often gets you on a gravy run but I don't kno how prime dispatches.

Here is some information from an ol team driver... That truck NEVER stops, if it does then prime isn't doing there job loading the truck. You will need to larn to sleep in a moving vehicle in the dark and usually while listening to the cb and radio. How loud they are depends on how cuteous your co driver is. Essentially you will be exhausted from the second day out untill you get home again thats how you manage to sleep in the truck. You REALLY have to trust someone to sleep while they drive, especially when it may be at 3am!! remember what I said about the truck NEVER stopping?
basically wether or not a a team operation works out depends on how well you two get along

Primes lease isn't that bad. It's a lease not a lease purchase and they run your butt off but as long as you know you will be running going in then it can be a decent platform to step up to a full flegged owner opp

Hey.. I've been in a team environment before.. I actually get better sleep if the truck is moving.. lol... I'm used to hearing the reefer running. You're right ya have to trust the person driving, & has to trust me driving.... LOL .. .(evil laugh).. j/k.... (Ya'll get off the sidewalks)...

The other person has said that the dispatcher does a great job getting him good loads and that the employment time has been longer then just a few months... So, the partner has nothing to gain if they are lying to me.

Normally I would agree with the other person posting about the lease purch agreement... But with this agreement.. I'm not doing the leasing.. The truck isn't in my name... I don't have to worry about making a truck payment, paying the insurance, the maintenance, etc.., that all falls on the other driver.... that name will be on the lease, not mine!... I actually have nothing to lose, (other then my sanity)... (that has been gone--lol) I don't have to put anything on the truck; the truck already has the tv/dvd.. etc.. I don't have to bring anything but me...etc.

I just hope I'm not forgetting something.. lol

Thanks for your advice.. Medicine Man.. I appreciate it.. .. :biggrin_25514:

If your dead set on team driving for Prime do it in their company RTC or CHD divisions. I drive for Prime and their company drivers are well taken care of, especially teams. Just be prepared to work because their teams run their butts off and setting isn't in their vocabulary.

Running team for me.. is ok.. I've ran both.... Typically I can get help if I need it.. moreso then ask a perfect stranger... ie: sliding tandems.. etc.

But thanks for your opinion/advice.. appreciate your comments!

i would be aware that company trucks are cut back to 63 but you are forced to run 56 as a max speed
