update, well they took it into shop today, 1st they wanted to replace tps, which we said was already done, but they said it wasn't done right or was bad. then later they came back and said it wasn't that and that they needed to put on a new ecm. they explained that they used a tester ecm and everything worked fine, so that is the problem. It was to late to get started on it today, so they will get to it 1st thing in morning. I am sure hoping that this really fixes it. we need to get back to work. will update soon, either tomorrow nite or next day. thanks all

Did they get the FMI code off the ECM and was it a 12?

You know what? they didn't tell us that, I'll try to get to ask tomorrow. They did say that it was throwing codes for things that we didn't even have on our truck. He said that there are extra pins for things in the ecm and we didn't have them. I tried to push for answers because I want to understand, when I did push, he told me that they used the test ecm and that it worked fine, and that we had to get a new ecm if we want the truck fixed.
It was like being in a hospital waiting to hear what was wrong and what they are going to do. The operation is in the morning. lol, the waiting room is nice except for the intercom system overhead. -

Update: Tuesday they got the ecm on and no more codes, check engine light quit coming on. But they said it was still derating at 1500 rpms. So they went looking for why and what they said they found was that the acuator in the turbo wasn't moving the way it should, moved very little or none. so they put a new turbo on today. I was hoping they'd just fix actuator but they said thats not how it works, needed whole new turbo. They test drove it and said it works, we drove it back to stanley and she's purring like a kitten. She's better than she's ever been since we got her.
Don't understand the light being one thing and the turbo being the other. Cause when it would derate the check engine light came on then it go to idle and lite go off, then you could take it back up in rpms. they seemed connected, yet the fix seems unrelated. uh oh, the yellow check engine light is coming on. It loses some power, its like the turbo isn't kickin in. shift down to 9th and it picks up. does it whether on cruise or not. red light not coming on. the code was 128 411. called freightliner they said its just throwing codes. made appt for week from monday.
any ideas? -
Still not sure what you have engine/ECM wise.
Is this a DDEC 4 12.7 or 14 liter engine and does it have EGR (I am guessing it is with the 411 code)? I know you said it was rebuilt but you also said when they put the motor in. Did it have a DDEC 4 ECM originally or a DDEC 5 ECM? I think 05 was the first year of DDEC 5.
A 411 code with a Detroit EGR engine is a Delta P sensor which is part of the EGR/Turbo System. http://www.ddcsn.com/cps/rde/xbcr/ddcsn/1-DDECV-05Reva.pdf and can indicate that the EGR valve is stuck open.
Best thing to do is probably find a good Detroit Tech or if you have a good shop that will work with you to find the problem and not burn you at the stake. -
I still say it is the e.c.m. ground, not the e.c.m. I know what you are going thru, been there.

update, the truck kept acting up, like not getting enough fuel. had a little smoke, code said egr valve. went and spent 1300 on valve, 300 installed, did not help. still throwing same code. bunk heater now is not working, always had to have it full for it to work, wondering if its something to do with fuel? someone suggested manifold, but someone else says sensors in egr , just frustrated now. havent been able to drive truck for this last week. any more ideas?
