I am sad to report that SAGE Corporation has closed there branch at the Yadkin Surry Community College. They stated it was due to lack of students. Odd thing is the girls had a class of 8 ready to start the Monday after the school closed a.d a night class of 7 to start in mid April. As for the office staff Collene said she is looking for a refresher course and Terry is considering starting a driver services company.

Well I would imagine that DCCC in mocksville probably put them out of business. It's cheaper and a much better program. I looked at them both and it wasn't even close who I chose to go with.

Those private companies are expensive compared to the program I'm enrolled in at CFCC. In-state tuition is around $980. The disadvantage is that it's an 8 week course vs. 4 weeks at the private schools. The upside is 12 semester hour credits and 380 hours total course time.

There's NO disadvantage to the 8 wk / 380 course. Of the 5 students in my orientation group, I went that route and the other 4 went the thousands of dollars impatient route and the difference in training ( or more accurately, lack of ) with the 3-4 week cdl mill was painfully apparent. I was the only one who made it through to a job and 2 of them never made it past the toad test. One even had a preventable on his road test and said he'd never pulled a 53 in training only the 28's. You made a good choice. You'll be glad for the extra 4 weeks when it comes time to get the job.

Unless of course that extra 5 weeks of no pay leaves you homeless.

A quality 3 week course gives you everything you need to be ready for your carriers training program.

A crappy course, whether its 3 weeks, 8 weeks, 22 weeks.....will leave you poorly trained and not ready to work.

Slot car, are you looking to go to school? Check Epes website in the training
Section for the school list (even if you don't want to work here, all are good
Schools) . If need any info pm me. Be glad to help any way I can.

3 weeks is MORE than enough.

Is 3 weeks going to make you a finished driver, ready to hit the road on your own, of course not.

Will it get you to the acceptable training level for a quality carrier to take over your training from there?

    Absolutely.

If you need 10 weeks of training to get you ready for your carriers training program, you shouldn't be on the road.
