also to the new recruits......these trucks are automatic and they will roll backwards...just hold the brake and squeeze the throttle a little and it will take off nice and smooth.....and use the 3 points of contact when getting in or out of the truck when you take your driving test.....THEY WILL FAIL YOU IF YOU DONT....also....when you do get assigned your truck...please take care of yourselves...especially if your a diabetic....i went gung ho with my first two loads....didnt eat for over 14hrs...(im type 2 diabetic)....and wound up in springfield ohio...in a ambulance on the way to the e.r....NO LOAD IS WORTH YOUR HEALTH...now i still have my cdls.....but my dr says my otr days are done....i was a driver for maverick for TWO DAYS.....thats how quick things can change.....yes it was my fault for running that long without eating...and looking at the appoitment times and holding the pedal to the floor...and it was my fault i didnt tell my fleet manager my medical condition so they could adjust my times accordingly...i just threw "care" out the window and told myself..."i got this"...not trying to turn ANYONE away from maverick...BUT....when you have to wait in a industrial park for 16 hours...with no food in the truck plus being diabetic....waiting for your "rescue driver" to come get you to take you home....it can really open your eyes.....my "former truck number was 110810"

I had that problem once when I was still driving for Wayne Smith in Morrilton. I had slipped on the ice and hit my head while walking back to my truck at a consignee's. I had a concussion and spent a night in the hospital. Luckily, I was in near my family in Indiana so I spent a couple of nights with them before Wayne got a driver to me to bring me back to Arkansas.

Load securement training is winding down. It's tough on us old men. I'm not as fast getting things done as the younger guys and I may never be. The thing isn't to get it done fast but to get it done right. Chris called me aside today and asked me if I was alright. I told him I was great and looking forward to getting more physical than in Sand. I told him Tylenol is my friend.:biggrin_2559: He said that if I ever needed to talk that he would be there to listen. I appreciated that.

    On a final note tonight.....

Is there enough room in a Cascadia for a fridge?

From my memory having perused one on the yard,I believe so. I had to borrow the sleeper in one one weekend while my truck was at the dealer and I didnt feel like goin to the Galloway. It was nice and comfortable and very quiet.

I'll wait and check once I get one issued. I have two small fridges, both small. I'll buy another plug in cooler before I spend $500. I had bypass surgery in 2007 so I've tried to eat somewhat healthy when I've been OTR. Before I go out at all I've got some things to do at home. I need to mow the yard, fix my trimmer and general husband type Honey Do's. Since I had to go from Sand right into Load Securement (because I needed the money) I haven't had a day off in a while.
