4 year trucker and only 250,000 logged miles?

I've got over 600k in dispatched miles.

$47k my first year.
$50k 2nd
$57k 3rd
$54k last year (I took more regular hometime plus 2 vacations... week in Vegas and 2 weeks in Europe)

Oh yeah, Im a Prime Company Driver.

Gotta love that fuel bonus... APU for comfort. Now we got a decent detention policy for CO drivers... Gonna be a banner year for this guy.

 

only 1.5 years of that 4 is OTR the other 2.5 yrs was local so allot less miles.....

You will have to pay for your permit, for sure. I think you need $150 cash for the permit, and (something I can't remember)

 

JCW had 2 trainers. On the first truck, they averaged 5100 miles a week. I'm not including the week they were down for the radiator. On the 2nd truck, the average was 3300. Again, not including the week the turbo went out. He left out of SpringMo on TNT on July 31, 2011. He picked up Cubby on 10/21/2012. Take out the 2 weeks of truck repairs, the 2 days at Pittston for upgrade, and the 4 days of hometime he took just before his TNT was over (trust me, do this, or it will be at least another 3 weeks before you get home). His TNT was just about 2 months.

 

They finance lodging for you if you want. It's 10 dollars per week out of your check when time to pay it back until paid off. I think the rate is $45 per night. You have to pay for your own meals.

If you live close enough you can drive back and forth to class every day and save yourself that expense. Millis does not care one way or another.

 

Prime gives you a room (roommate also) and food for a week, or until you get on a truck, no paying back later either. Once you finish the weekly meal card, take it to the company store and they give you a hat and an ID holder FREE!. Prime will loan you $200 a week while working toward your CDL (100hrs of instruction then the hands on tests) pay back is $25 a week until payed back. $300 bonus for passing all of the CDL hands on tests the first time. Then they put you back into the hotel until you get a TnT (trainer and Trainee) trainer for your 30K miles. They have a policy that you go with a non-smoker if you are a non-smoker, and they try to find you a trainer that is close to your home for hometime. Expect to be out 3-4 weeks before you get your CDL, and 4-6 weeks at a time during TnT. During TnT you get paid a minimum $600 or .12cpm whichever is greater, but you must be on the truck for the whole 7 day week or available for dispatch if off the truck (at a terminal waiting for your trainer to get you back). WARNING: If you have an incident (wreck into something) during your training, you will probably be required to do 60K instead of 30K.

 

AT, I've supported a lot of what you said in the past, like others have said there's times when you speak like a true veteran and it can't be denied that you've done a lot of things right in trucking. But you boast about a lot of your accomplishments, and your future endeavors, I just hope that things go as great with this new, un-named company as you guarnatee they will because the moment things might turn awry that foot in the mouth feeling is going to absolutely suck.......let's hope this doesn't happen.

Simply put, people can make careers and be happy at different places. I made the absolute best out of Pritchett Trucking in Florida and believe me the general consensus of that place isn't too positive, but I made it work.

You have a lot of knowledge but buddy you sure put it out there the wrong way sometimes, you can be constructive without running people or the companies they work for/or possibly going to work for in to the ground.

 

I applied at Prime yesterday and one of the things that makes me want to work for them is the training process i think that it says a lot about the company. I wouldn't want to have 2 or 3 weeks training and then set out on my own its called training for a reason and I want to learn as much as I can from someone who knows the industry a lot more than I do.

 

Who are you going to get training from then? A magic crystal ball on the dash?
