I just joined the TTR forum, and just graduated from a truck driving school last Friday (March 30, '12).
First off .. hello everyone! I'm an North-Eastern Oregon Native, now living on the West side of the state in Albany. I'm thinking that this forum is the best thing since sliced bread, and am looking forward to meeting you either in cyberspace, or especially, on the road.
Now my question: I'll be speaking with a recruiter from Gordon in the morning, and .. I have two speeding tickets in the last 10 years. The most recent was 4 1/2 years ago and it involved me doing 16 MPH over posted speed, but I was NOT driving a CMV. (I was living in Idaho at the time where this type of road would have been posted at 65 instead of Oregon's 55 version .. not that I will say that's an excuse.)
What's the best way to approach this with the GTI (or any) recruiter? I've since knocked off the lead foot thing, and I have an otherwise good driving record. (No accidents in 40 yrs driving .. plus no criminal convictions of any kind.)
Any advice folks??
Oh .. and what do any of you think of Gordon trucking?
Hello, and I've already got a question!

15+ over will not go well for you, but since it's more than 3 years ago then it will carry less weight.
Keep in mind that you're competing with thousands of new CDL holders with clean driving records. -
Pulled over for doing 105 in a 55. No ticket. Pulled over for doing 120 no ticket. Since then I don't have a lead foot either. Can only push fate so much Eh? Of course, this was back in the 80s too. Wouldn't be so fortunate now!

My husband also just graduated on march 30, 12 & he has a speeding ticket from just over 3 years ago & it isn't considered a problem with any recruiter so far. Other than that his record is spotless. He has gotten call backs from every company he has applied with so far.

I got a 105 in a 55, but it was 32yrs ago. Who knew that an '80 Datsun 210 would go 105???
I like Gordon by the way! I had many friends that drove for them in the 80's and 90's. -
Thanks everyone. I actually have had a career working in roadway and other dangerous environments, and so I am really very safety conscious.
A 1980 Datsun 210 doing 105? Wow!!
I've been hearing good things about Gordon BTW. -
I dunno about Gordon, but most of the companies I've driven for of ask me for the things that have happened in the last three years. After three years, it clears your DMV report. At least, in the Carolinas it does.
In any event, if they do ask back that far, just be totally honest. Your criminal and accident history is shiny. A single ticket almost 5 years ago with no other negative history generally isn't gonna kill you, even if it was 16 over.
And to the above poster about thousands others with clean records... PUHLEEZ! I'd say the large majority have far from squeaky clean records. -

LOL While the vast majority of drivers are good people, few could throw the first stone! -
like it seems to be going, you just have to look farther and harder but can be done
