I've talked to several drivers for this company including one that we hired who was with them for over 5 years. The reason they are all unhappy is that the miles have gone down a ton. They don't dislike the company itself its that they are not making money with them lately.

i guess i should read the entire post oooops

Well I am currently employed with Smith...I just switched to the dedicated division. I ran pretty good my only complaint was the starting base pay but I constantly ran 2800-3000 miles a week. This job is pure hustle...If u hustle and a runner you can make decent miles here... I work dedicated local now for Quaker Oats in Atlanta

WARNING ,WARNING be aware of a company that makes you SIGN a paper that you cannot sue them .... that is one of the first things that they make you do... even before you fill out you W2 tax form ,they tell you don't work for SMITH but you are employee of Franklin Logistics, inc out of Indiana

lawsuit? this is false PA labor laws do not allow you to sue your employer in this situation.....they offered you light duty work which if you knew anything about the law you would know that you HAVE TO take any work offered to you in the state of PA ever since PA did away with this "blue laws" its been a employer run world out here......if they offer you hours or a position you have no choice you have to accept the work....only thing they cant do is force you to break "biblical laws" such as working on holy days........sorry but this is a lie........Last edited: Apr 3, 2012

TrashTrucker-How is the wife doing with nursing school? You guys still planning on moving back to the sunshine? It was 92 yesterday and awesome. Be cool on your stool driver.

So what your saying is that if Smith insisted he stay in a bunk or dorm room, away from his family, for the duration of his injury, he is obligated to do it or be fired? I don't know the specific law on this, but if the story itself is true, outside of the PA law, it's pretty ###### on Smith's part to even imply such a thing.
It's one thing to be away from home and family while driving OTR, it's another to be in a "forced relocate" position long term while injured just for the sake of light duty work, or to see their own medical people. -
She's doing good, almost done with it and yes 100% are plans are to move back to FL. Just hoping everything falls in to place relatively easy.
