All tires have that very problem not just LRR ones. Again driver education. Why do manufactures have different tires? To satisfy their custromers. Some want long life, some need off road, and some want better fuelmilage. Has more to do with the desire of the customer than any thing else.

And the bridgestone M844F has just as aggresive tread as does the M720 with a RR of 96, and has worked all winter for other drivers on the fleet. And those drivers have had no problems either. So your bias is showing.

Nope, no one reported anything in this thread. I've been watching it since it's inception. I knew it was a possible hot bed. :biggrin_2559: Figured I'd better loose the horns, and red eyes or it might catch fire. :biggrin_25525:

If your a truck driver you won't find much to interest you on the Kevin Rutherford show , however if your a business person there is a lot of very helpful information on the show.

Why haven't you tried to argue with my real world experience of running LRR tires with numbers of 86 and 100? 25 drivers and not one has complained about running the XDA Energy, nor have we'd had an accident due to loss of traction. I think you are just wrong.

I wouldn't waste my time with you, but it bugs me to no end when people put incorrect information out there for others to read.

Evans coolant was selling resistor kits along with their coolant to put in line with the temp sender to trick the ecm into thinking the engine was approximately 10 to 15 degrees cooler than it actually was. This served two purposes: The first was to keep the engine protection system from shutting the engine down, and the second was to delay the engagement of the engine fan until 10 to 15 degrees later than the designers intended. They were shooting for an operating temperature in the 220 to 235 degree range if I remember correctly. KR was touting the dual benefits of fuel savings from running the engine hotter (hotter engine is a more efficient engine) and from the engine fan coming on less frequently.

KR and Evans both were convinced (I'm sure it was Evan's check that convinced KR) that current recommended operating temperatures stemmed from the fact that water based coolants suffered from localized pockets of coolant boiling at 225 degrees and above. They claimed that since there was no water in Evans coolant to boil, you could run much higher temps without worry.

I don't have to tell you, Kansas, that overheating is the quickest way to score a liner, crack a head, and/or take out a head gasket. They were showing gains of .2 to .3 mpg, which I don't contest. But the risk very much outweighed the reward, IMHO, and Rutherford, IMHO, was careless to heavily recommend switching to Evans AND installing the resistor kits to realize a fuel mileage gain when he hadn't done proper long term testing on such a risky practice. I'd be willing to bet a thousand dollars NONE of the major engine builders would have signed off on the practice either.

Ive been a member here since 08 and in that time i have come to respect a few on this site because of there actions and not necessary on what they said. As for kr or anyone else i take what they say with a grain of salt with that said i respect what bbb has done to help fellow driver not only on this forum but have ran into him out on the road. I dont know but have never heard of kr sitting in a truckstop one on one trying to help a driver out of a tough spot but i can say that about bill. If both of them were standing in front of me i would be more inclined to take bills advice because he is not backed by indorsements but is educated in the school of hard knocks. Just my 2 cents.
