i think the avg of the ifta reports is the best overall baseline to go by.
it covers a good bit of miles and different conditions, run the eco and do the same thing.
the result of 9.12 is virtually the same as the 9.16 ifta in reality it hasnt cost any mileage.
i think the avg should cover real world conditions over a period of time , not just cherry picked runs with perfect conditions.
my truck holds very consistent mpg on run after run with a variance of a tenth or two, and with this flat i run heavy ,light , short, tall tarp and untarp.
i dont have wild swings in mileage with either abosolutely perfect conditions or less than ideal conditions.
i think dice is on the right track for a good test.

Thank you!
To be honest with everything I have tested over the last year and half that made a difference of 3/10ths and better could be felt with the trucks action in either better throttle response with the Fleet Air Filter and the Pittsburgh Power exhaust manifold/larger turbo additions along with the truck rolling freer with the MicroBlue wheel bearings, rear ends and tranny could all be felt in better performance in the truck's actions way before the first tank was filled up.
Products like Air Tabs and Real Wheels Wheel Covers may have made 1/10th or 2/10ths could not be felt in the truck's performance from the driver's prospective except the Air Tabs really help in truck stability in a cross wind. The difference in truck performance was too small to notice, but that still does not mean there is not a difference fuel mileage.
The EcoTaz maybe like the Air Tabs or Real Wheels wheel covers with such a small difference it can't be felt from the driver's seat and may have to measured over time to catch a such a small gain in fuel economy.
I am still optimistic that hopefully it will work at least in a small amount of 2/10ths to 3/10ths without the gain being from summer blend fuel and better weather.
Let me also add the higher my truck went up the fuel mileage curve the more sensitive it is too traffic and weather conditions. My truck is very efficient with my last oil analysis with 36,489 miles on my synthetic oil with no by pass filtration it only had a soot level of 0.5 that is very low. -
Does your fuel flow thru your ECM and then supply the head? If so I believe the eco taz should be in the line between the ECM and the head. Flowing thru the ECM may disrupt what the Eco taz is doing. Hard to see exactly how fuel flows in your picture, my 6NZ has a completely different filter head. What do you other guys think?
ECOTAZ Thanks this. -
Dices fuel line system is different from all the Cats we have done. Like most I have always installed the unit on the Left of the Filter while facing it. All the ones I have done also have the primer pumps and and the outlet fuel line comes out of the leftside right below the primer pump and are in the 5 to 6 mpg range. Dice is the first Cat that we have tested like this. Dice, one way to find out really quick if that line is going to the motor or not is by disconnecting the fuel line of the ECO #5 from the filter. Since it is self priming, have someone just turn the switch on, if the fuel shoots from the filter to the ECO #5 then it is correct, if it shoots out of the ECO #5 towards the filter, then it is before the filter and should be move to the otherside. I have no reason to believe that by enhancing the fuel that we cannot increase the fuel mileage as we have on all the previous testers, but then again this is a first for us. So Let her run.
As I have said before, If you enhance the fuel to any motor regardless of condition, better fuel is going to perform better. -
I talked to my shop today about that and we are on the outlet side of the fuel filter and there is only one line in and one line out of the fuel filter that is different from some others I have seen too. Remember mine is a CAT motor in a Volvo that is very rare also.
I might have to go by my shop Monday to see if there is another way to install it and see if Ben approves it. -
How much are you getting paid to shill this magic tube ?
-
How would the ECM change the fuel back to oringinal form after going thru EcoTaz first?
My motor is a 3406E 6TS model. -
Was just thinking it should be as close to the head as possible. The ECM is filled with electronics. I don't have a clue how eco taz works. Just thinking out loud.
-
Actually Dice, do you have a FASS or similar system?? Those require you to reverse the fuel flow and then the actual fuel will feed into the back of the cyl head, which on a CAT motor was the return system.
Once I get done today, and the sun finally comes up, I will take some pictures of how it is to be installed on a C15 motor.
Being it is in a Volvo might have something to do with the odd routing as well.rollin coal Thanks this. -
None of the owner operators expressing their opinions are getting paid to test the ECO #5. They are doing this on their own to help those that are interested in getting more miles per gallon and some relief of the $4.00 plus fuel cost. No Magic shows here just straight up Real World Results.
I am the Manufacturer's Rep for the ECO #5. The Administrators allowed the testers to post their findings in order to help the members of this forum to share their information.
