"Ellman also inked a recent deal with Jerry Moyes Swift Transportation to put billboards on the sides of the Phoenix company's 47,000 trucks."
I couldn't post the link due to my post count . . search "swift transportation billboards" and the link to the 'Phoenix Business Journal" should be right near the top.
It isn't like you'll be offered a choice but, if you could, who would you choose to advertise on your trailer?

Thinking they meant trailers. Wouldn't those fancy digital ads look good on the MS and T series trailers!

Doesn't matter to me what ads they put on them, what concerns me is the added distraction to the rest of the drivers trying to read the billboards as they fly past us on the road.TooGroovy Thanks this. -
Imagine your pink and black doors. Now imagine a GPS driven device that instructs 'Only _____ miles to go!'
Come to think of it, Swift could work out a trade . . it seems that everytime I go by there's at least one truck in the parking lot promoting Swift.
Actually, though, I'm fairly certain the digital idea isn't going to happen . . there's an FMCA reg that limits the type of lighting that can be displayed.Last edited: Apr 2, 2012

Again, doesn't matter to me what they do to the trailers. As long as they keep paying me to haul them around I'm ok. And if it's on the back, that's ok too, I'll only have to look at the pink and black a couple of times a trip. So what?!fr8monkey Thanks this.

Drawbacks: decreased fuel economy and capital outlay.
The billboards on each side will widen the trailer, creating more drag and using more fuel. Additionally, the increased electrical load on the alternator will consume even more fuel. That plus the 5 to 6 figure capital investment in each trailer that would be trashed at each truckstop when drivers drag them down the sides of other trailers when parking will make this a non-starter. -
Ummm ??? Drag ?? I remember picking up a load of cornflakes in the PHX term that came in from Mexico. Both side of the swift trl had an ad painted on the sides of the trl.
Not sure for what company but it was the first I had seem at that time. But have seen a couple of other swift trls with adds painted on the side.. No extra light that I saw just a normal trl.Last edited: Apr 2, 2012
