I appreciate all your post's on Poly I also have only had 3 jobs in the last 26 years in the trucking world there are no perfect job but there are company's that really respect their drivers or say they do and in reality don't and its good to do all the research a person can before making a decision from every thing I have read and researched poly trucking respects their drivers they pay above average their honest and their growing which tells me they plan on being around for the long term and want quality drivers to be succeed! And it sounds like your experience with them overall has bEen positive

I like that they rely on the driver to do the job, instead of having several different people in the office each doing a little part of it. At the mega carriers, there seems to be an assembly line mentality. One person books the load, another person schedules it, a third person assigns it to the driver, then another person is the contact if anything goes wrong. It leads to so many communication errors. I'd rather be responsible for as much of that as I can be. I'm less likely to be mis-informed that way.

GLad you straightened up the issue with the trucks, because I'd see a bunch of newer trucks then next week a bunch of older trucks. I thought they would have phased those out by now. But it does look they have good deal worked out with that outside maintenance company to handle your needs.

Also you mention mom and pops a few times. Do most places have docks and are pretty easy to get to? Are the loads out of Grand Prairie heavy. I use to bring those plastic pellets from chemical companies out of Louisiana there. Those loads are pretty heavy. Seemed like a pretty top notch operation. Thanks for the information. Have a great weekend.

A "mom/pop" is considered anything other than a large distribution center. They may or may not have a dock. Ealier this week one of my stops out of the Cottage Grove,MN facility was to a farm in central PA.. If no dock is available Poly does give you chains and a pallet puller. So far all the "mom/pop" locations I've delivered to have had forklifts. If you need to use the pallet puller to assist in unloading they pay extra for that.

All outbound loads and most backhauls are heavy. However, I've not had an issue in being able to scale any load. All three Poly facilities have on-site scales.

I was able to deliver all four stops out of Cottage Grove,MN on Monday, but had to wait till Tuesday morning before backhaul dispatch called with next broker load. Pick up in Pottsville,PA Tuesday @1600, deliver in Ft Worth anytime Friday between 0700-1500. Called broker and got all necessary info.. Called shipper and was told the load was cancelled for today. Called broker and backhaul dispatch to notify them of the problem.

Waited almost two hours before backhaul dispatch called with another load. New was not a broker load but did not pick up until Wednesday @0830 and deliver in Ft Worth till Saturday @1800. Could not get load time moved to any sooner, but was able to get delivery time moved to Saturday @0001. So at least I can salvage most of Easter weekend.

As for the wasted day due to load cancelation; I'm waiting for a final answer. Not going to hold my breath though.

Over the past two weeks I'll have almost 4800 miles and seven extra stops. Passable, but not what I strive for. But given the above average mileage pay and the extra stop pay...I won't complain.

Hey JD I just wanted to say Thanks for keeping all of us interested drivers up to date on the in's and out's of Poly and being truthful. These days that is something very hard to come by and I think all of us on here feel the same way brother. I hope you get home early Sat for easter weekend and be safe and we'll talk with ya later.
