I am taking my General Knowledge test soon and it ask a question that states which has the highest wind pull.

    A. A Dry Van Loaded

    B.A loaded Flatbed

    C.Empty Double Trailers.

I think it is C. Am I right? Thanks.

I think C is the correct answer. No matter what trailer you're pulling,if you're empty and it's very windy, you're more likely to fishtail then a loaded trl.Unless you still don't have much weight inside the box, then that's as bad as empty when its windy.

Never heard of such a question on "any" CDL test. If in doubt I'd check out the CDL Drivers manual in "your state". If that question is in fact on your knowledge test then the answer would be in said manual.

That said can't speak from experience cause I've never pulled doubles of any kind.. and watch out with the answer because if what you wrote is the exact text of the question / answers "C" does not specify "what type" of empty trailers.

    MNdriver and SHC Thank this.

Thank You for the answer. This is an actual question on the state test at the DMV. I am going in for the second round since most of the general knowledge questions on the test are not even related to the questions you would generaly study. You think you have 10,000 answers and they hit you with 500 you diddn't know. That is the GOV for you. See you, TruckDriver29

wind pull ? never heard of it used in relation to trucks. used in sail boating , that is how a sail works. never pulled wind with a truck, passed wind in one a time or two :biggrin_25523:

2nd. Round? Do you mean additional tests for one or more endorsements above the min. required for a basic class "A" with no endorsements? That's the only way you should be testing on multiple days is it not?? Or if you did not pass the first time, you cannot retest on the same day. Or are you doing some type of classroom preliminary testing which is not actually at the Alabama DMV/DPS CDL testing location?

I dug out my Arizona CDL Manual and compared it to the Alabama CDL Manual "available online". They are identical with exception of the front / back covers. There are questions relating to the stability of doubles / triples "ie crack the whip effect etc." but nothing as to a wind drag or wind pull / resistance etc. Must be one of those "Gotcha" questions. :biggrin_25524:

Go threw " The Wreck House " when it is windy. Not even a tow truck will come get you till the winds calm down. The winds in " The Wreck House " are very well known to blow fully loaded train off the tracks with little ease.
