Going from Scranton, Pa area to Springfield, MA area... hoping some of you guys will weigh in on your opinion of the better route... thinking bout taking I84 to I87 to I90(mass pike) or I84 into Hartford, ct and then taking I91 to I90...
I've been thru CT on 84 before but have not used I87 to get up to mass pike, any input is appreciated
Which route is better?

84 to 91..more direct IMO..depends on time of day as well.
That part of CT isn't as bad as the 95 area.dirtyjerz Thanks this. -
I-84> I-91 is the way you wanna go! The other way I usually go around the south side of Hartford on I-691. There's less traffic on the south side.

yeah i'll be making the short trip up there on Easter so it shouldn't be too bad hopefully, just wondering about I87 NY Thruway never been on that one, only been on 90 up there

87 is a nice road but taking that to 90 is a good ways outta the way. Ya might hit a little traffic near waterbury or hartford on 84, but i doubt it on the weekend. Plus i doubt the one coop just inside ct will be open.

87 is a great route.....it is just longer that's all. I will take it when I want a nice easy drive once in a while, lol.
84 through Hartford can be bad depending on time of day, sort of like running the gauntlet at times. But it's usually good. -
Pls Dont take 84 ....use 87North ,90 that's better way ....

Toss up. You'll have tolls on 87 and 90 if you go that way or you'll have a toll on the Newburgh Beacon bridge on 84. I'd probably go 84 to 91 if we're paying for the fuel and tolls and 87/90 if I wasn't!
