You'd need TWO CONVICTIONS in 3 years of over 15 Mph to get a 60 day suspension.

That is what is needed for suspension, but it could be very different by each employer and their insurance company.DrtyDiesel Thanks this.

Only if it's revoked, suspended or cancelled too....
And yeah, it will depend on the separate insurance company too.
The county attorney will want to ensure that the county/state gets the fine money as well.
With a speeding ticket, they are hard to beat. Years ago, I learned that "stay of adjudication" path from a traffic lawyer sitting in a court room waiting on other matters.
99% of the time, the county attorney will take you up on it unless you have a really dirty record. And CDL holders seem to be a more "helping case" to do this with as it keeps them working and has less of an impact on their jobs. -
The best thing he can do, is to spring for an attorney.
If the CDL is important to him, the cost is minimal. It will be best to even try to be there as well.
Everything else is just a learning experience. -
Get an attorney !!!! My son had much the same happen to him. His speeding ticket was in a construction zone. He actually got a few letters from attorneys in the area saying they could handle the ticket for him. But,if I were you I wouldn't wait for them to contact me. I think it cost him $300 for the attorney. He didn't even have to appear in court. The attorney got it lowered to a parking ticket. However the parking ticket fine was the same amount the speeding ticket would have been. It's always about the dollars. But no points on your license is a big plus with CSA and even your personal car insurance could go up. One more suggestion. DO NOT TRY TO REPRESENT YOURSELF IN COURT !!! The good ol boys do not like that.

Right before Christmas, I was bob tailing to drop my truck off at shop. Got a speeding ticket that was a 57 in a 35. I've been by there numerous times since then and there's no way. But at the time, I knew arguing with cop would do me know good. So I asked him to reduce it so I'd not lose my job. 15 over the insurance company will drop you, no questions asked. Well, he reduced it to a 50 in a 35. Did me know good, but I thanked him for it anyhow.
Then on the back of the ticket was the city attorney's office. I immediately called them and asked them if I could get a diversion on it. Told her I've never had any tickets to speak of. She called me back in a few minutes and said no problem. Cost me an extra 50. No sweat.
So, I let the safety guys know, just in case something came up and they found out. They said that CDL holders aren't suppose to be given diversions but if they said okay, great.
As long as I go two more months without any tickets, then it's tore up. But I no longer hit resume on my cruise when I see the highway speed limit sign leaving a town. I wait until I actually pass it before getting back to highway speed. I was really lucky they were ignorant of the law or didn't care. The 50 bucks fee was a donation to their city park and recreation department. lol -
got a similar thing last fall.....

Has nothing to do with the good ole boys,it is the same everywhere. Hire an attorney, start looking on the internet. Just my opinion, but i do not think $300 is gonna get the job done. My guess is $750-1500. A good attorney will set it up so you do not have to appear in court. I would say there is a good chance of making some kind of a deal with the court. Pay no attention to the naysayers the right attorney can help you. You may have to talk to more than one. Some may tell you it can not be done. Just call another and or call the Bar Association ask for a reference.

I live in PA, and received a speeding ticket in DE. I was going approximately 20-25 over the speed limit @ 3am. The officer seen my CDL & lowered it to 5 mph over the speed limit. I still plead 'Not Guilty' & was scheduled a court date.
Before we went in to see the judge, the officer said if I plead guilty to 5 mph over & pay the fine then I wouldn't receive any points. Also, he informed me that PA & DE systems aren't linked together & it wouldn't show on my mvr...and it's NOT (haha!). -
Your use to the bigger play on the semi. Ya need to put some springs on that car gas peddle, so it keeps you foot off the floor a little more.
