I talked with Pat from Nashville Coach today on the phone, he said he has A/Cs in stock and can install them same day or next day if needed. 615-425-2410

Yeah yeah yeah, you just want to witness me taking a drill and jigsaw to the roof on a poor old Freightshaker dont ye? Come on, admit it...:biggrin_25523:

Mine is a "midroof xt", so it is flat on top, as seen here mate:

Thanks! I rarely get through Nashville though, and seeing as I have done everything else myself thus far, well since I owned the truck pretty much, I will do the install too mate. Looks like a decent price on the one that I quoted earlier though doesn't it?

Not only do I want to see a big hole in your roof... I think everyone would like to see how it goes in case others want to go that route.:biggrin_25514:

Heres a couple tips I can offer...
-Remove the headliner before ya cut anything! Look from the inside and decide where the hole needs to be. Measure the 14X14" hole location so as to not cut thru a roof brace, usually molded fiberglass & part of the roof structure.
-Drill a small hole UP thru at each corner of the proposed HOLE, get on the roof, then connect the dots & cut the hole from the outside.
I use a circular saw with an abrasive steel cutting disc instead of a blade with teeth. Much smoother cut.
-Re-install the headliner, then get back on the roof & with a sharpie, mark the liners backing board where to cut the hole in it. ;)

Exactly the way I was thinking of it Rob.
I have had the liner down already to fit a new TV antenna up there for the digital channels etc, so know that deal well enough.
I was going to use a smooth jigsaw blade though, although the circular saw is also an option. #### fiberglass, I just LOVE my Hypertherm toy....:biggrin_25523:
Will try to remember to take pics when I do the hacking, oops I meant the installation....

Dealer is checking on the Dometic unit, but he has spoken to Coleman, and the only unit they will warranty on a big rig is the Roughneck one. 2 yr warranty on that one.
He said Dometic will warranty the Commercial on a big rig so long as it has air ride suspension. Waiting to hear on the warranty period.

Being in the marine business I like domestic products and have installed 15000btu low profile on boats as per customer request domestic would not warranty this road unit on a boat and years of use did not need the warranty anyway great unit.

    Thanks for that!
The place in Ca is going to check the warranty period for the Dometic Commercial unit for me.
If that is the same as the 2yr Roughneck warranty, looks like under $900 delivered to my door including the heat strip thing.
From what I have found, loos like @1500 watts in heat mode, and a little less in ac mode. That is less than the Coleman one IIRC, which is good for my little 3k watt Honda generators fuel economy!

Did I not post this when I made my comparison between the two units ?
BTW, I spent a long time researching this... I'm not what you'll find at the counter of a truck stop :biggrin_2559:

The Dometic "Commercial" rooftop has a 2 yr warranty, the only Domectic model available for commercial use.

The Coleman Roughneck also comes with a 2 yr warranty for commercial use, again the only model available for commercial use

I used a air cutter to cut the roof of my truck... :biggrin_25523:

I see your from MO... why not check out some of the local RV dealers ? This is what I did, by the time you pay for shipping and everything, I didn't save anything buying local, besides if I have a problem with it... It will be a whole lot easier then trying to deal with some eBay guy 1000 miles away.

I did look into my local RV dealers, but when they started talking over $1000 plus freight to get it to them for the Roughneck, I lost interest! Mid Mo is certainly NOT the hub of places that want to deal etc I have found.
The place in Ca is an RV parts dealer, and I am ASSuming that the warranty is good at any Dometic dealer.
I reread your post a few pages back last night, and saw no mention of warranty periods, so if you posted it I guess I missed it.
