And then to put two of you in a truck and try to run you as a team? I hope a few people post about how that goes. Should be interesting.

The whole idea of having a trainer is to get you experience. You have already proven to the state that you live in that you can safely handle a big rig. The trainer is there to help with questions, not to teach you how to drive. He/she will also give advice on ways to make your shifting smoother, backing easier, etc... They will also reinforce company policies on idle time, paperwork, off time.

Pretty sure you can get 120 hours in pretty quickly if you are allowed to log 50-60 hours a week.

    2-3 weeks in my math

Agreed. When I was a trainer at USX I let my students do all the driving in the beginning. Then after a couple of weeks we would run super solo so to speak, I could never sleep with a student driving. My students would have 120 hrs in 2 weeks, 2.5 weeks tops. That isn't enough time in my book. I believe they had to have 180 hours with the trainer when I left in 2004. I could be wrong about the hours, but most of my trainees were with me at least 3 or 4 weeks.

I had a student that had never, ever, driven a standard truck........I didn't know that and put her to driving in Atlanta...LOL.......she did good, tho, and picked things up pretty quick. She went on to drive team with her husband.

Had another student who clutched and I shifted (she had come off an automatic trainer truck).....that only lasted a few days and then she got the hang of it.....she also went on to team with her husband.
