You can always park your car near a town close to an Interstate that they run, and use that as your 'home'. They exclude hiring areas so that they don't have to pay d/h miles to get you home.

They wouldnt have to pay me the dh miles, nobody else ever has in the last 20 years.

Hey bob training is good, learning a lot, trainer seems to be even sacraficing his miles to show me the proper way.
They do have prepass but no ez pass, driver pays tolls but they reimburse you. In nj heading to ogden ut.
Also from working for 2 reefer companies it seems both love midwest and east coast -
Get with CRST then
-
Also should add no apus, or inverters allowed.
top notch equipment though, truck only had 5k on odo. also in orientation for newbies they tell u u might go home only once your 90 days its up to your trainer so keep that in mind

Glad to hear it's going well. I'm guessing you have one of those '12 Cascadias with the new aero package on them? Heard pretty good fuel mileage is coming out of those.
What's funny is we have one of the oldest trucks in the fleet and it's a '10. At the miles we're doing right now we won't have it more than a month or two more which I'm not looking forward to. This truck has never left us on the shoulder yet so it's hard to want to get a new one. -
You are correct my good sir, looks pretty sweet w the fairings, I personally get about 7 mpg even in the mtns (overall) guess my trainer got lucky his came w a fridge.
Do you know if they have a socal dedicated for solos, wouldnt mind getting on that
-
They have local/dedicated out of Tracy up north. The only guy I know that runs SoCal solo and dedicated is an owner op since he can make it in one shift with an ungoverned truck. It's actually possible in a governed truck but you won't make it consistently. I almost made it to LAX once from the SLC airport area doing some air freight that had a whopping 6k in the box.
They have a team dedicated from the Mira Loma yard to the SLC yard that I ran for a bit. It was pretty nice since you were home every weekend but the one I run to Kentucky now gets 3000-5000 miles more a month.duckdiver Thanks this. -
U have a great trainer stick it out they are hard to find

ok time for an update, don't want to me one of them guys who start a thread and don't follow up.
been getting kinda burned out, been running 10 hr shifts, sleep, then run 10 more. my trainer doesn't allow me to talk on the phone (have truckers blue tooth), sound asinine and #####y? perhaps but its by far my biggest complaint. i'm sorry but driving 10 hrs straight w/out any comm is brutal, in fact i think it makes me more of a dangerous driver, get bored/tired more quick etc. even he doesn't talk on phone while driving.
i think 90 days on the truck is long, i know its been said the trainer can let you upgrade earlier but i have a feeling mine is going to make me run my full 90. he says i'm a good driver and he goes back in the sleeper and does his thing so i know its not because i'm a bad driver either. i am a bit biased because i have already been with a trainer for another company (upgraded no problems with them and drove solo) so it sucks being stuck with another guy so long, just starting to feel the cabin fever.
again, running the midwest and eastcoast, like i said for some reason either all reefer companies or just my like but thats ALL i run ever with both pride and central.
this post is probably mostly negative, feeling grouchy and burned out. my trainer does smoke and i never have so maybe its the smell thats getting on my nerves as well.
hopefully i'll be in a better mood the next time a post, aside from the phone thing and being stuck w/ someone at the hip 24/7 3 feet away from me, i can't complain lol.
