When I was first driving I had a situation much the same.
I would collect 50 000lbs industrial gear boxes from a large chemical plant about once a month.
They would be delivered to a factory where they were reconditioned.
I would then return with a reconditioned unit to the chemical plant.
They would load a crate full of the old bearings and bushes to be returned with the reconditioned gearbox.
AI the chemical plant they never wanted the old stuff , just refused to off load it.
I really resented this up till I found out the scrap value was about $500 back in the 80's.
What to do in a situation like this??

So what did you do with the stuff they did'nt take?
-
That just shows that there is 2 sides to every coin.

It's funny how the packaging gets left with the driver if it's worthless and if it's worth something the receiver says he paid for it. I wouldn't have any problem sweeping it out on the property. If I were questioned later, I'd deny everything.

Well, I guess I will find out tomorrow for sure but as far as I know I will be starting orientation on the 23rd. At least that is what recruiter told me the other day but she wanted me to call back tomorrow. Im assuming its because she is going to give me the Greyhound bus and motel info.
Im always skeptical and I dont count on anything til its written in stone. -
Bad odors are more of a problem, I had a load of nursery stock floor loaded and they used grass or sorghum straw to hold moisture, I got rid of most of it at one of the receivers and the rest at a truck wash.
Those were fun loads, the odor of storing a dead animal waiting for lab results for a week wasn't so easy to get rid of. I tried washout, and ended up deadheading back for someone else to pick up a load of something that odor wouldn't bother, the trailer was reported as unreloadable a few weeks later by another driver, I still remember that trailer and still hate pulling it. We were lucky the loads sent out didn't get refused.
Only way coffee would have cured that was boil it and run the vapors through the unit, it just took lots of time, otherwise. Plant operations found another way to screw up trucking,

Im sure that was no fun. You just made my straw look like a little floor dust.
25(2)+2 Thanks this. -
I sold them and pocketed the loot.
I was sure to get my a BOL stating I was allowed to take it.
We still do those same gearboxes as it is ongoing local deal.
They did however wise up and the reconditioning factory no longer sends the old bearings and bushes.
There was about a ton of large bearings and about 500lbs of bronze bushes.
We have delivered about 250 to 300 of these.
With the copper price where it is now I guess at current prices this would be worth about $250000-00 if i could have stock piled it all.
Could set up a nice rig or two with that.MNdriver Thanks this.
