Swr red zone

    Iam sure this has been asked but if so I can't find the thread...my ant. is mounted in the stake hole of the p/u bedand I have the mounting bracket grounded to the frame of the truck....I have a Firestick II antenna and the Cobra 29 LX (brand new).

    I cannot get the SWR out of the red zone...HELP

    What are readings on ch 40 and ch 1?

    Thanks for the comeback,...the Coax is new out of the package but i will have someone check it out..it seems ok....I have tried turning the tip of the antenna up/down a little at a time and nothing makes a difference....I will have the coax checked out thanks again.

    the readings for 20, 1, and 40 were all off the scale to the right side....

    Has to be the coax then if new coax checks out may defective antenna. But like jumper said go buy a meter dont trust radio never accurate. Meter around $20 at truckstop or less

    ok thanks for the help, I'll get a meter and have the coax checked also...

    Might want to think about a Francis antenna also...pre-tuned would narrow error margin.

    Make sure the antenna stud is not grounded

    Oh do you have a bedliner in the truck if you do you might have to mount it on the roof
