I have always operated under the guise of: It's easier to get forgiveness than permission.
After a couple of "Oh #####! You did WHAT??!" I find they tend to return my calls.
They become afraid of what I might do in the name of communication.
Of course, that may be one of the reasons I'm Admiral of Fleet 50....

Hope everyone driving through Oklahoma and Kansas is safe. A lot of tornado's out there tonight.

In the famous words of Emul: Waiting...Waiting...Waiting -
yep, have done that several times, you did what???
Tends to get their attention, and keeps the communication open...
Even got a thank you from Sam, for the other day playing shuttle/live load driver.
Setting in Lubbock TX tonight watching the severe thunderstorms form rapidly, and head towards the east... They popped up quickly. -

Some days, all the forces of nature are in your favor...the magnetic poles are in harmony and the bread falls jelly side up.
My delivery this afternoon is to Sams Club in Riverside. Pulled up and I began to sweat...it's really Castle and Cooke cold storage.
Anyone that's delivered there knows what a CF it can be.
But I pulled right up to the gate (first miracle), checked in and was assigned a door.
Lots of room to back in (second miracle)
Check in, come out and notice there are now, at least, 15 trucks lined up on the roadway waiting their turn to check in.
Only three doors left.
Then...(and there's more!). I know my next load will be out of San Ysidro, but haven't gotten a preplan. The gamble is to head down there and wait (133miles) only to find they want me to pickup in Ontario, or wait here for tomorrow. Then have to start my day early and head south, killing my 14 before I can get anywhere.
Debbie calls me and asks, "Can you help with a local delivery tomorrow morning?"
Might as well.
Turns out I pick up as soon as I'm empty here from the Colton yard and head to Vista.
Son of a gun! My son lives right there!
So I'll get there about 2100, the same time he gets off work.
And they're paying me loaded miles to get down there as well!
Only problem is I'm not aware of a WalMart DC in Vista. Wonder if they mean the store?
I know Vista pretty well, since my business was there for over 20 years.
Well...we'll see!
Like I said...some days just go right!
(It's amazing how little it takes to make a driver happy)Corporal_Clegg, Dryver, Dieselten77 and 1 other person Thank this. -
A rolling driver is a happy driver. Just short of 2900 miles this week plus the shag pay.
Pulled into johnsons corner 6pm, not a good time. Just squeezing my way into a make spot when a driver pulls out of an actual parking spot, did not take me a second to block it and set up for it.
Now I wonder, will I pick up at kodak after I deliver to kodak? Find out in the morning after they open. -
I am fixing to attend school with Stevens Transport n a few weeks....Is this a good company or not ??? I been reading nothing but bad things about this company...i feel like this...if this company is soooooo dang bad like folks say...why is this company still around ?

Tlea, corporal clegg, emulsified, nascarchuck, rogercausey, njfan, and many others I have talked to in here are great people. They represent Stevens in a good light. With that being said, Stevens IS a good company.
Corporal_Clegg Thanks this. -
My original plan was to get a year experience then find a local job but I ended up finding one after 8 months and left Stevens.
Like I have told some people, if I would had stayed OTR I doubt that I would had left Stevens to go to another OTR company.
But no, Stevens isnt perfect and has its problems just like any other company.
