I heard you can still put in a inverter but they want their garage to install it, is this correct? Is there a size limit on the inverter? I've heard the apu's are not the most reliable so most guys still put in inverters. Thanks again JD for being our goto man.
-
Yes, you can put in an inverter. Yes, you must let our shop do the installation. You must provide the inverter and wiring. They told me to just buy some cheap jumper cables and they would cut off the ends and it would be cheaper than buying one of those install kits at a truckstop. As far as I know, you can put any size inverter you need into the truck.poorboy126 and jdrentzjr Thank this.

A better week at being productive, but not without some stress.
I left Grand Prairie on Tuesday with a one stop load going to a COSTCO DC in West Palm Beach,FL for a Thursday delivery at 0630. 1300 miles in two days meant I had to keep the left door closed. I was thinking I would get a preplan on Wednesday afternoon but the call never came. Once empty on Thursday morning I drove north 60 miles to the closet Flying Pilot figuring that would be the direction I would travel to pick up my next load. I waited till 1030 CT and gave backhaul a call just to make sure I was on the board. It was confirmed that I was and would receive a call once they found freight. Two hours later I got the info for next load. Pick up in Riceboro,GA on Friday at 0830 going to Houston for Monday at 1500.
Well needless to say that since Riceboro,GA is less than 1000 miles from Houston I would be there Saturday by 1500. I was not thrilled about having to sit for two days so I requested to drop the load at our facility in Mount Belvieu,TX and reload out of there on Saturday or Sunday.
I sent that request in Thursday afternoon after I got the info from backhaul dispatch. I got an immediate reply making sure I was requesting the drop to be at our Mount Belvieu location. I confirmed and waited for an approval. At 1630 I still had no approval and sent a message asking for an update which didn't come till the next morning. Was told they were working on it. Again at 1130 on Friday I asked for an update but got no reply. At this time I also called a driver supervisor to let him know what was going on and he told me they gave him the same response, but to wait till the afternoon and see what happens.
By 1545 there was still no response so I called the driver supervisor again and left a message. Ten minutes latter the approval come over the Qcomm along with a call from the driver supervisor telling me it had been approved and to call backhaul to get info on a load out of Mount Belvieu.
I picked up a load coming back to GP on Saturday afternoon and drove to the Flying Pilot in Huntsville. Glad it was a cool night because the A/C stared acting up at the Mount Belvieu location and went completely out by the time I pulled on to the big road.
Woke up this morning and hit the road with anticipations of being in GP by 1030 and getting my assigned truck back and then take a 9 inning vacation at the minor league park that is home to The Frisco Roughriders. Well...it was a thought.
I pulled into the Loves at exit 272 on I45 in Hutchins to use the bathroom. When I returned to leave the truck would not start. Called road service. Was told someone would be there within the hour. Two hours later we hook the cables and let it charge. Starts and smoke flies.
It was the electrical connector for the A/C rubbing on the compressor pulley shorting out; as well as the compressor pulley Assembly. Seems the electrical short had caused the compressor to over heat and fried the compressor oil causing the bearings to go out. It was decided that the mechanic would go to Dallas Freightliner for a new compressor because no one know what belt could be used to bypass the compressor. I left Hutchins at 1630.
Needless to say I got no nine inning vacation. And as an added bonus, when I pretriped my assigned truck I found an air leak that will need to be addressed in the morning. After switching gear back to my regular truck I decided enough is enough and got a hotel room so I could unwind, stretch my legs, and do some laundry.
All in all not a bad six days on the road. 2981 miles plus one stop= nice paycheck.
Next weeks miles won't be too good as I'm trying to get to salt Lake City by Friday so I can help support my wife in her endeavor to run a half marathon. -
I hear you on one of those weeks but it sure is nice making $1500 during a bad week. Where do I sign, lol

Coming out of the house today. I have been home since Wednesday getting some long overdue chores done at the house. I got a call from Backhaul Friday afternoon telling me that I will be picking up this morning in Louisville and coming to our plant in Grand Prairie. Im on the outbound board for Wednesday, so we' ll see how the week turns out when I get my outbound dispatch.
I've been home quite a bit since I started here at Poly. It has been good to be able to spend more than 1 or 2 nights at a time in my own bed. I know my wife sure appreciates me not being so worn out all the time that I don't feel like doing any maintenance around the house.
Anyways, I have worked myself into a position now at home, to where I can stay out a few weeks and really see how much and hard I can run at Poly. I plan to stay out about 3 weeks and push for some productive days and weeks. -
Today I arrived at the yard about 0730 and promptly talked the the shop manager about the issues with my truck. He put the work order at the top of the pile and the truck rolled into the shop 20 mins later.
Once that started I walked over to the drivers lounge where I was asked to help move trucks around the yard. Since my truck was in the shop, had no outbound load, and wanted to make some $$$ I accepted.
While moving trucks from one location to another I noticed my truck coming out of the shop about 1030. So a little later between moves I checked out the shop's work. The issues were fixed. Also about the same time I got a call from outbound dispatch offering me a load going to Fife,WA that would allow me to spend Friday and Saturday in Salt Lake City to be with my wife for her half marathon. So all in all not a bad day.JimBob24, 1nonly, chemster and 1 other person Thank this. -
Hey JD that worked out pretty #### good, really amazes me how things work out sometimes and I did say sometimes but Poly seems to actually care which is a rarity. Let us know how the wife does on the marathon.
jdrentzjr Thanks this. -
Who does one speak to so I can get on? I am in Az. I'll run anywhere. Thanks.
