I see it all the time. I do it myself. And I'm grateful to so many Wal-marts which still allow big trucks to park on site(without using those blasted height restriction bars).
Most truckers are courteous enough to park alongside a single row, usually alongside the parking spot dividers, but sometimes straddling the longer line going down the middle.
Every once in a long while, I'll see a trucker park in such a way that his tractor is on one row, and his trailer is across and into a completely separate one, effectively blocking the lane of travel.
Several days ago, I saw a Swift driver do just that.
And it wasn't late at night, either.
Don't ruin it for us with these Wal-marts, drivers.![]()

Well, other way 'round, I suspect.
Still, I agree with you.
Don't abuse the privilage of a parking spot because you are too lazy to park correctly. -
Well late at night, there are hardly any shoppers, as they close down one side of the 24 hour Wallyworlds, so this stunt wouldn't be too much of a hindrance to the locals.

I think the best plan would be to ensure that you are completely out of the travel lanes, just as you would any other parking lot. I have found that If I am BT I can make the tractor fit in two spots if you park across them like you would a car. Although you get funny looks when you do that lol.

Our walmart is posted, but as long as you park out of the way, and don't trash the lot you won't have a problem.
chopper103in Thanks this. -
Most Walmart intentions are to allow truck parking, shop and leave. Some think just because they allow that they can make a truckstop out of it and take their 10 hour break.
I always followed the truck delivery route in and park on the side. Having worked on an asphalt crew before, I know many times the car area is a much thinner layer of asphalt than the outer boundries to save construction money. A hot day loaded, spinning them tandems sidewards and one can do some damage.
My visits to Walmart was to bobtail from a truckstop while empty or stop enroute to pick up prescriptions.
I know a few Walmarts that have "No Trucks Allowed" signs all over and you still see trucks there. Why?? -
I always call them and ask. Sometimes there's a city ordinance preventing it.
But they usually tell me where to park. Usually in the back

the supercenter in seymour, in is truck friendly.....in fact, when we do the d/h at the distribution center up the road and the T/A there is full, the gaurd at the DC will tell us to go there we are welcome to park there......just pull off to the side of the lot and don't be in the way and never have had a problem there....and usually 5 or 6 parked there at any time. doesn't hurt to at least go in and buy something as well while you're there just for the courtesy of having parking and being left alone. usually can find something i need for the truck
