i think i turned the recruiter off(juan g.) by voiceing my opinion of the pre-orientation computer homework. he said i was borderline on my mvr anyway, so i only have myself to blame... i'll stay on my local gig for a year or two and try to keep my record clean and see what transpire's..movin on..lol.

well... I AM living proof that they get you home for your 34 and the pay is honest! I have NO complaints at all...I get to work AND be with my family, that is all I ask for, as well as a working truck...UNLIKE USA TRUCK.....which likes to suck donkey balls and treat you like a turd on your front lawn! GO EPES!!!!!!

Is Epes military friendly? Im currently active duty but am planning on moving over to the national guard soon. I want to become a truck driver and Epes looks like a great company. Just wanted to know if I would be able to conduct drill training.
-
Okay so I talked to a recruiter and they will get me home for drill. Sounds like Epes is the place to be in the truck driving business. Wish I could hurry up and get off of active duty status so I could get started. @sdaniels, I got your pm but it won't let me pm you back yet. I have to have 7 more posts. I'll hook you up with that info once it's time for me to transition. Thanks for the help.

well the elog got me again lol.....28 miles from home friday evening and have to stop and do a break because the ####### babysitter tells me i'm tired and it's time to rest lol like it really knows when i'm tired......so, do 8 and run on in the rest of the way and get in 3am saturday instead of friday evening.......
3150 on the check for last week......that miami to tampa to plainfield really made a difference on that check and when you can keep rolling it's easy to do.....and half of that NE bonus money......that NE pay is really racking up and i'm loving that program as much as i run up there......and as much as i hate getting up there, that extra .07 sure makes it alot more bearable lol
port newark.......how many of you been to this lovely place? lol all those container drivers who know where they're going and what lane to be in and me. and a couple other otr guys from different companies trying to find our way around. definately not the place to make a wrong turn lol. another wrong pickup number. 1st guy at the desk was an ### gotta get the right number then go to the back of the line. send in a message and they give me a name to talk to. go in to find him and a different guy at the desk who was really cool, got the right number for me, and put me back in my original place in line. then go into the dock area and it's all those little short containers....i'm guessing 20'? 25' maybe? and a few 45's and that's the kind of room i had to manuever in becaue the dock area was meant for those things and not a 53........took a few pullups to get a 53 into the dock in that closet of a dock area and maybe an inch on either side with the doors open once i got in there.....got loaded with 1:15 on the clock and 1:10 to the closest parking.....wasn't staying there in the port in newark overnight.....and 5pm trying to get out of there......surprisingly traffic wasn't too bad getting out and got to parking with :05 on the clock and......of course the lot is full.....just had to pull off on the side of the proper parking spots and wait for someone to pull out.......2hrs later finally had a guy leaving that was blocked by my hood and just backed up a little to let him out and swung right in behind him and in the spot.....that place was a madhouse with people trying to get off the road and parked but i have to say it was fairly orderly with guys coodinating on the radio trying to get a spot as people left.....a rare moment of a few hours of cooperation between drivers lol.....and of course a few idiots fighting over spots but not many considering where we were and the time of day and the number of trucks circling the lot endlessly trying to get parked. and the inevitable loud boom that could be heard across the lot as someone nailed something trying to get into one of those tight spots.....i was already laid down but heard the talk on the radio someone really nailed somebody else and gummed up the whole back row for the rest of the night.
load out of newark went to my hometown......little bitty town in sc......never thought i'd deliver there.....but was a nice trip.....didn't need directions, knew where i was going......knew the roads better than the gps did hehehe.....even got a nice breakfast in with my son while i was there......but also knew where i was going that it would be forever to get unloaded and did......no room there so go across the street and wait and expect a lengthy unloading delay......finally out of there and bounce 50 miles over to newberry to load.......44,570 and front loaded on the trailer......thankfully was down to 1/4 tanks and when i weighed.....33,880 on the drives with axles all the way forward....no adjustment left towards the drives, friday afternoon, and 4:40 home with 4:55 on the clock and a fuel stop left......
hurry hurry hurry as much as you can at 63mph and 77,900, splash in 20 gallons of fuel at the fuel stop to get home on because i've got a scale to go by on the way and that close on the drives and of course hit charlotte friday afternoon at 530pm.....
so after hurry up and wait getting through charlotte i get within 28 miles from home and have to stop because babysitter said i'm tired lol
but two good weeks.....more than a few 600+ days and then friday was the short day out of the last 2 weeks i burned up 13:46 and only got 310 miles due to loading/unloading delays and traffic......OPUS 7 Thanks this.
