O/O and percentage is tough to beat when you have open deck rates the way they are today. Remember a few years back when the rates were garbage? Not so pretty of a story. To be an O/O you have to be able to make significantly more than you would being a company driver to make up for all the extra headaches and risks.
He may be a smart man for saying "no" if he doesn't see how it will work.
BTW, Congrats to Niko! -

Truckerswife,
JDP is right, if he isn't feelin it then he should yet. Believe me, theres alot of expense not including the truck. When he is ready he will know.

My son started off with a Classic XL , ( Ex Werner ) and did quite well with it.Nikosdad Thanks this. -
O/O isn't for everyone. There's no shortage of O/O's going broke, even in the good times. If buying a truck is viewed as 'being a driver with more of the income', that's a recipe for failure. If viewed as 'a business FIRST and you work for your own company', you may succeed. You HAVE to understand business, and run it AS A BUSINESS and you are just an employee of that business, otherwise, you are just a driver with a truck payment and that will be short lived.jjranch and rollin coal Thank this.
