On another note, why did my last two posts get flagged as spam when I tried to post them?? (The last one up there, then the one that has not appeared yet...)
    I'm not spamming, I promise! Oy.. :biggrin_25523:

Mine did as well. I believe it's random so the mods can review to ensure content is appropriate.

We actually have people that haul def and only def. Each region has a def driver and that's all they haul. Our def drivers are very much otr but they make good money. Last time I spoke with him he hadn't been home for near four weeks.

Lol, no worries! Looking back over my posts, I'm wondering if it's the slash between 'Pilot' and 'Flying J' that did it.. So, for this post, I will not use those combinations! :D

Gotcha.. I wonder if that's by his choice or not?
Well, I got my app filled out and sent in to Solar tonight. My mom went into the hospital with chest pains this afternoon so I got a bit delayed in filling it out. (She's had 5 stints put in over the last couple years so her heart is always a concern. She said she felt a lot better tonight, but they're keeping her overnight for observation. But yall needed to know that, right? lol)
    Anyway..
Keepin my fingers crossed for one of these apps to get into the right hands! I'll let yall know tomorrow what I find out from Dooley and Solar. Also, I got an email this afternoon from Conway! Not sure why, since I already called them a week or more ago and they told me they weren't going to hire me, but maybe times are tough? lol We'll see. Also got an email from Melton, but I'm not sure I want to go that route.. don't know how much hometime they offer. I'd definitely keep them on the back burner though, just in case all my local plans go awry! We'll see what they say tomorrow..

Got an email from Solar this morning -- they have a no rollover policy. :biggrin_25513:
Found out from Groendyke that my app has been processed and sent on to the Denver terminal, now just waiting on a callback from them.
Called Dooley back, waiting on a callback from them as well.

    BWAHAHAHA!
Okay, so have you ever had one of those 'DUH' moments? No, never.. right? lol
So I got a call from Trimac -- completely forgot I had put in an app with them last Monday -- they're looking to be hiring a few drivers down in Longmont (actually would have the trucks at Johnson's Corner), slipseat, $17.00/hr breakdown pay, 2 loads of limestone a day from the north side of Ft. Collins into Denver, approx. 320 miles a day, .33 cpm, plus $12 load/unload, plus 8% safety incentive every quarter. Works out to about 43k/yr. And I just realized I forgot to ask about benefits. Anyway.. Anyone have opinions about what they're offering?

Dooley and Groendyke haven't made any decisions yet. I'm supposed to call Groendyke tomorrow though.

Sorry to hear about the Solar gig not working out due to the rollover. Trimac isn't a bad company from what I've heard and its a foot back in the door to get some experience and some time behind you. If it were me and I were to receive an offer from Trimac and one of the fuel hauling companies, I would accept the offer from the fuel hauling company. It would be around a 15k a year or more pay difference between the two. At this point though you need to get some experience in and take what you can to start making a paycheck. Trimac would be perfect for a more local gig and the experience would be great. If they can start you quickly then even all the better. Do they have an orientation that you have to attend and a training period like the other OTR carriers?

Its not what you'd get mileage-wise on the OTR side, but it is a reasonable starting place.

That's kind of what I was thinking.. For the extra 15k or so, but mainly because I am not particularly looking forward to driving down to Johnson's Corner and back every day.. I'll do it if I have to, but.... :biggrin_2556:

Their orientation is about a week, then a couple weeks (not a set amount of time -- just however long it takes you to catch on, from what I understand) of training.
