It's all about your gut health

    You run hard every day and there's always one more thing to do before you tend to your own needs, then you discover three more things, so you grab something (trash but filling) to quiet the stomach and regain some energy to continue your duties. Your ok for now but you wake up in the morning feeling unrefreshed, achy and foggy minded. You hurry in to the truck stop to use the facilities and grab coffee or soda and some sort of quick stomach bomb to start the day. You blast the toilet (as normal) grab your drink and gut bomb and get rolling. You're just happy to be rolling even though your back and hips ache and that shoulder is acting up again, the coffee is good and your ahead of schedule and you like this run. This goes on day after day until you start noticing that you never feel very good, always tired, aches and pains all over, trouble seeing at night, many emergency restroom stops, the feeling of loosing control of everything. You no longer enjoy any aspect of this job and wonder why, well, it's all in your gut! Your a tough guy but no ones gut is that tough, it's very sensitive and the heart of your well being. I trashed my gut and it's contents leaked into my body and bled. Every day for years autoimmune came in and cleaned up the mess. This is not normal! Autoimmune is for emergencies, not daily function! Autoimmune ruins your body from it's harsh chemicals! Take care of your gut and your gut will take care of you!

    Probiotics and healthy food. I haven't had a single emergency pit stop as a trucker. I eat actual food and drink water instead of coffee and soda. It made a huge difference.

    I just wish that I had learned at your age rather than living the majority of my life fighting what I had been doing to myself out of ignorance, but luckily I did eventually stop and take the time to learn before I expired, and it was a close call.

    Thanks. I heard some advice along the way but mostly from people living in their own little perfect world and their advice was very difficult if not impossible to adapt to mine under my working conditions. I was Mr. unstoppable, ten foot tall and bulletproof until I got stopped, live and learn or don't and die trying. What's funny is that people don't realize how sick you can be because after all, you still have all your arms and legs so what could be a problem for you?

    Funny how one can dismiss the signs until they hit you. i was the lucky one, i had two friends that i ran with a lot, now they are gone... heart attack and Pancreaitis. i was the lucky one

    Sorry for the loss of friends and glad your still making it. A guy can only take so much and they'll push you way past our limits, problem is, we don't know how to judge our limits until our body shuts us down, then we know for sure. I was raised to always tough it out and to a certain extent that's good, but ultimately the guarantee to an early grave without any notice. Take care!

    I had too much iron in my diet. Shut down my intestines one night. I barely survived the incident. I was only 25. I'm 31 now and I take probiotics and eat a balanced diet while avoiding high fructose corn syrup and I take it easy on the sugar.

    Now I can only rarely eat red meat. I hold on to too much iron. I can't take regular vitamins, either. It's ok, I like turkey and chicken. I will eat a steak if it's a good cut. I avoid processed meats.

    I'm happy to announce I never get bad poops on the road. It's nice to feel the urge to go and just handle business without taking all day. Plus, I feel great overall and I can drive longer.

    I don't touch energy drinks either.

    Hemachromatosis is very dangerous. I tend to eat beef most of the time and I can definitely tell when my body's had enough and I need to lay off of it. When I took vitamins with iron it was really bad.

    I was stuck in the rut of drinking either coffee (very strong) loaded with sugar and non dairy creamer or soda. It didn't matter that I had improved my diet as I continued to sabotage myself with the choice of drinks, the damage was done and continued to get worse. Now I eat only food that I prepare and drink water, tea or lemonade. My gut is healthy and the rest is in progress, but I can't see beating the arthritis, but I will continue to try, praying for a miracle! I think that I got frozen too many times amongst other things.

    I never have tried energy drinks, Strong coffee was always my crutch. All that stuff will eventually let you down, wayyy down and out!

    You're right about that. I don't think there's much of a way to beat arthritis, aside from having the bone shards/fragments or any ground up leavings removed from the joints.

    I don't know much about this, but I heard there's a procedure you can get where fluid is injected to lubricate joints (bigger ones like shoulders/knee) and any damaged bone can be removed, such as shards or any fragments ground away from the arthritis.)
