    Hello,

I just finished Truck Driver Training at Greenville Technical College. I've been told it's a really good school.

I have an appointment to take my CDL test on the 27th.

I'm going to be faxing applications to TMC, Mavrick, McElroy, US Xpress Werner, Schneider and a few others. We've had recruiters come from those companies to talk to us about their companies.

How do you load a profile picture or an avatar?

I got my Class A CDL last week and faxed out some applications. I got a call from Werner Enterprises almost right away. How good are they? I've never heard anything bad about them.

Who should I avoid like the Plague?

I've heard a couple of names, but I want to hear from people that have been on the road and know with experience.

    Thanks!

Although I don't qualify as being an experienced driver, I do suggest that you read through the "good" and "bad" company threads; take everything that you read with a grain of salt and talk to drivers who work for a particular carrier (if you can) before you sign with them. Maybe hang out at a local truck stop, perhaps buy a driver some coffee and have 'em bend your ear for a few.

The biggest thing I would avoid in your shoes (and I will avoid them as well, when I finally make it as far as you have) is Stay away from any lease program until you really see what driving is like and learn to manage your own business.

Congrats again on the school completion and getting the CDL, and safe travels:biggrin_255:

Congrats on passing school and the state test and getting your plastic!

Drop werner and that is not a bad list... from what little I know.

I wouldn't view Werner as a long term gig but as a place to get your feet wet and get that much needed experience for a year or so. Once you have a year under your belt then you will be in a better position to go after the more coveted jobs and companies.
