Prime Flatbed Divison Info

Cubbie spends hometime in my driveway. Sometimes with a trailer, sometimes without, THAT depends on the weather leading up to hometime. Wet = no trailer. Dry = doesn't matter either way.

 

I have some questions about prime fb side are you guys getting the light weight trucks ? Also what is your fuel mileage like ? What does the company like it (fuel mileage ) to be ? Also if you do your training on the refer side then change over to flatbed how much more training time will you have ? very good thred ORD and DA1 thank you all for the help.

 

I have only heard of FB guys getting full-size, but I have seen a few lightweights at the yard. As far as I know, the company expects atleast 6.5 MPG, but the fuel bonus starts at 7.25mpg. Last week I ran 3500 miles heavy and got 7.97mpg for the week. If you go with a reefer trainer for TNT you will have to do an additional 30 days with a flatbed trainer for securement training. If you go with a flatbed trainer its the minimum 40k miles.

 

Thank you Mont74 that is a good week there. What kind of truck do you have ? Is it hard to get a flatbed trainer ? Again I thank you for your time I am wanting to get in to trucking and your info helps a lot.

 

I drive a 2012 Cascadia. It is hard finding a flatbed trainer, but you are in the right place to find one. No offense to the reefer guys, but if you want to go flatbed you really need to find a flatbed trainer. Keep looking and they come! If you have anymore questions don't hesitate to ask.

i 2nd what ORD/MONT said i have a '09 cascadia and my mpg usually hangs around 6.70-7.1 avg last wk got 7.97 but was light the bonus for '09 trucks start at 7.0 7.25 for the newer yr trucks will be retiring this one in dec then we will see what i get

 

I have been listening to the Prime March Safety meeting and they said that the new flatbed and step deck trailers they are getting will have a front axle that will raise to help improve fuel mileage when empty and save on tires too.
