Its pathetic that the owner, Mr. Phillips, gave you the "I could care less" attitude and I dont understand why owners are like that. They should be more concerned about how the people they hire are running the company.
PTI in Sikeston, Missouri is owned by Sam Potashnick but he has a d-bag for a Director of Operations, Rick Horrell. There are too many details to go into but in short, the way Rick runs the company, they always have a high turn over rate and you can ask just about any PTI driver and they will tell you, PTI would be a good company to work for if it was not for Rick Horrell. I dont understand why Sam keeps him around. I have always wondered if Rick has something on Sam and thats why Sam keeps him around. If it were my company Rick would have been out on is ##### a long time ago. My wife and I watch "Undercover Boss" sometimes on TV and Ive told her many of times that I wish they would have a boss of a trucking company go undercover and see how the business is ran but I guess that will never happen because for some reason, owners just dont care.

BigMike I was just curious, you said they couldn't verify your OTR experience from the mom and pop trucking company you previously worked for. What exactly did they say about that? Did they give you hell about that, specifically?

The only the reason I'm asking, is because BTC is one of the flatbed trucking companies I was looking at for possible future employment. I just wanna know what their mentality is concerning new employees when they first hire them.

I dont know what the problem was but they tell you that you will not be paid unless you complete orientation. I am lying in the sleeper of a BTC truck right now and had no problem getting my first weeks pay, so in other words you did something or pissed someone off. I wouldnt blame BTC for that.

Not really, they just asked a million questions and said okay we're good. Plus they do a road test anyway, so they'll see if you can drive or not.

Yeah, but I did complete orientation. The day before they sent me home, they came in and said " congrats, you've completed orientation" and we had employee ID numbers, etc.. Now if I hadn't completed orientation, why would they say I did, and why would they give me a employee ID? I had completed everything, and was waiting to be assigned to a truck/trainer.. Then out of nowhere, they do this and don't pay like they said they would.

Maybe this Scott Hall dude just didn't like me? Don't know, don't care, I'm sure he's done dozens of other people the same way before and after me, and maybe it'll be the next guy who curb stomps his sorry ### instead of slapping him with their greyhound ticket.

Here's the thing, orientation is not over until the end of the first week. I've been through the orientation and I've seen some other guys who didn't necessarily want to step up and participate in the load securement phase of the first week make it through, so I don't know how you pissed Scott off but you did something. you may not have realized it but you did.

Yeah, all i know is I completed orientation, they had said so and handed out employee ID #'s...They just decided to thin the pack I guess, we had about 20 people in that one " orientation". Me and 2 other guys just happened to be the lucky winners of a free greyhound ride..

Oh well, this was a long time ago..who cares anyway lol
