Well I way over estimated my miles for this past week. I got 2850 miles for last week. I had a 14 hour sit and wait to get loaded in othello because I was 2 hours late to shipper because I had to go from Paterson to stanfield out of route 30 miles each way instead of getting fuel in pasco in route for 25 gallons to get me to missoula. I arrive in missoula and find a air leak in my red air line, I call bd and get it fixed within about a hour. I get 50 gallons in missoula of fuel. I notice I been using a lot more fuel due to the mountains and notice fuel level not enough to reach billings. I wait in livingston after my 10 reset tell my terminal opens 14 hours after.
I tell my dm, I am low on fuel truck using excessive fuel due to mountains and weight, I get a message back telling me I have enough.in my head I am saying no way. So I roll and pull off my billings exit and turn left at light and immediatley truck stalls. I just barely have enough momentum to pull off shoulder. I am less than 1500 feet from fuel!!! Send message to dm, bd, and back to dm. Bd sends tow truck. I get message to call one of the directors in brooks. I told him situation and that I needed more fuel instead of 50 gal maybe 75, I was advised that's 25 gal times 900 trucks. Well I did not get paid for 60 miles out of route round trip to save a nickle plus wear and tear and extra fuel use to save that nickle. Just sayin. I took photos of my fuel request and denied, etc for future reference and will for all that get denied. I do not agree to any tow billing charges as I do not control fuel. That's a corporate issue. I am sure I could of make this post a few paragraphs but I don't feel like editing everything today. Headed to Syracuse for Mon del. I hope I can get more than 2700 this week.
Be safe,
P.s. Blue, thanks to all your troubles, I couldn't be as upset as what your going. Through. -
Dang, that sucks. We know our trucks, not everyone is the same. If they would listen to their drivers it would save our time and their money.

I am going through the same with my Pete. Stuck at service plaza in Kansas waiting for repower and tow. This is the 2nd time in a week, last week in Atlanta. They said screen filter was plugged.
This does cut into miles! -
I am at the 3rd shop so far in Bismarck, ND. The first one I took it to said it'd be next Wednesday before they could even look at it. I was told to take it from there and go to the Cummins shop (Freightliner dealer) where they diagnosed it for the past 2 days. According to them, there is crystals forming in the def tank and it's clogging the filter which is not covered under Cummins warranty, so it has to go to Paccar (Kenworth) for warranty coverage. So, this morning I had a message from my DM telling me that breakdown wanted me to take the truck out of that shop and take it to a Kenworth dealer which was fortunately right across the street. So now, here I sit, in the driver's lounge of the 7th shop I have had to take this truck to in the past 5 weeks.
This truck has been between Peterbilt and Cummins shops repeatedly based on what part they deem needs replaced. It seems like none of them truly know how to repair their product.
I am not very happy with these events, and the longer I sit, the more convinced I am that I should bring my OTR career to a halt sooner than later. Far too much wasted time out here for my taste. I know it's nobody's fault (besides Cummins and or Paccar) that this aftertreatment system is essentially broken... but I am the one taking the hit for it, as well as May is not making any $$$ while the truck sits.Last edited: Apr 21, 2012
