I must point out though that Bismarck is a friendly town... everyone I've come into contact with seems like good people.

Companies know best don't ya know, even though most have never stepped foot in a trk.But they know best,ya right, they don't know crapola.Sounds like you need to find a different company to drive for.Drivers should'nt have to explain every detail pertaining to their job. It's like you wanna tell your company to shut up and give me the fuel or whatever. No wonder their's so many stressed and pizzed off drivers. Most the time drivers are always right and heaven forbid will you ever get an apology from the company if they screw up even though the driver advised them.

I've found that I have a heck of a time on weekends getting fueled properly. I went through an ordeal last year trying to get fuel on a Saturday when I had a 4 drop Costco run to the Bay area on Sunday. I requested fuel 3 times, starting Saturday AM until later that evening.... not so much as a response from anyone. Ended up going ahead and make my first two deliveries with no more than 1/8 tank. Had to finally call dispatch and tell them I was driving on fumes and needed fuel ASAP. Had to drive all the way back out of the Bay to Tracy truck stop to get fuel then turn around and go back into the Bay to complete the deliveries. Looking back, I was dumb for even trying to go in there with less than 1/4 or even 1/2 tank fuel. I would refuse to deliver it until they got me fuel if I were to encounter the same situation these days.

Anymore, I be sure to get fuel when my DM is there during the week. He's got it together, and gets me my DEF and fuel when I need it every time.

Speaking of the company's current fueling pattern, it's patently absurd. In the nearly 3 yrs I've been with May, I've never seen it like this.

I left Brooks last week and was dispatched 85 gal there, 50 gal in Corning, 95 gal in Vegas, a fill in Layton which I avoided because it was 80 miles out of route which I am not paid for, 85 gal in Denver, I was supposed to get a fill in Layton this morning and the night dispatch kid put 50 gal on me! I asked him why and his response was, "because you have a Coors load and it's heavy...we don't want you to be overweight." LOL

I told him I know exactly how much my truck can handle in fuel weight and requested a fill. He replied, "50 gal...copy."

I turned on the pumps and it just kept going past 50 gal, I got my fill anyways.

I hate to say it, but these are the kind of practices that alienate drivers from the company and eventually lead drivers to explore other options.

I hope May rectifies this procedure soon, especially the practice of requiring drivers to go way ouf route for fuel without compensating you.

It really helps to have a good dm that is on top of the fueling. Joker and I are blessed with a great dm who sets us up right. She will set us up for the weekend before she leaves on Fridays so we can avoid trouble on the weekend.
