I lost the oil pressure in my ISX which ultimately shut the truck down. I'm thinking it's the oil pump because she starts when she gets cold and the codes are cleared. Then she gradually loses presssure and after about 5 minutes she shuts down.
D.I.D. displayed the following info:
Engine Oil pressure value too low/inactive
MID128 PID100 FMI1
Anyone know how much it costs to replace the oil pump at Cummins?

it might be a pressure relieve valve. sometimes presure/temp sensor goes wrong (about $280 for that sensor)

If it is the oil pump then have them look at your rod and main bearings also as they could be wore out. I would also look into cleaning the oil cooler as you dont want to just replace the pump which could be like throwing a bandaid on a wound that needs stitches. Fidure out why it failed and fix the core problem, it will cost some now but will save you later.

maybe also check the piston cooler nozzles.. 1 might be bad

Got a call from the Cummins folks today. Apparently there is a 100 psi drop across the oil filter. I'm hoping the filter collapsed but they are supposed to pull an oil sample. Geez I just had the oil and filters changed last week.

Well like stated while they are in there you may want to do some preventative maintenance to it, How many miles? There may be a bad filter that they put on it, they do test them but maybe they missed one in the testing process? I wish you luck Driver. -
I didn't know these had a pressure relief valve.

Apparently the oil filter collapsed. Got another call from Cummins today and after they replaced the filter, cleared the codes, and took her for a test drive with the test gauges connected, they came up with 40 psi while driving and 28 psi at idle. No foreign matter in the oil sample at all. As inconvenient as this was, I have to say hats off to Cummins for the electronic engine shutdown. This could have actually been a lot worse had there not been a pressure sensor and auto-shutdown.

I'm kinda dealing with simmilar problem on my ISX and thats what I was told in shop. They said: Oil pump, pressure relieve valve, pressure sensor and worst scenario bearings. My engine has 480 000 miles.

Well, bad news. I went to pick up my truck the other day and take her for a test drive. She started up just fine and I started rolling with no problems. About 2 miles down the road my ears cued in on what sounded like a ticking noise...kinda like a valve tapping in a car. I thought it might just be an exhaust leak so I went and got fuel, got my trailer and took off to go get loaded. About 10 miles out of town the ticking noise turned into what sounded like a 4lb sledge-hammer hitting the side of the block. I took it back to Cummins and now they say the engine needs to be rebuilt because the clip that holds the wrist pin in came out and was found in the bottom of the oil pan. This just suxxxxxxxx. 600k on the mileage and an ISX needs to be rebuilt???
