The shop has determined that there were some kind of crystals in my DEF tank. They suspect it got contaminated and is clogging up the system. I think what happened is that I got bad DEF from some station that maybe used an old diesel tank for their bulk DEF. I've heard that happened frequently in the early days of DEF.

Currently the def tank is out and getting cleaned, after they reinstall it they'll do some more tests to be sure the repair corrected the problem.

Then I can take this beer to Renton, WA, and then get a few runs to end me in AZ for home time.

I have seen crystals at the Pump in Layton among other commercial places.

watch out with that def... its not only jacking up trucks it can jack you up too!!! that guy i met in GA that was going to the same drop as I was, turns out he was at the fuel stop we had, somehow splashed some def and some got on his face and into his eye, he washed it out and then the next day couldn't see out of his eye. he was in the hospital for 3 days, now hes heading home and has to get surgery

That stuff is corrosive to aluminum and will eat paint, so it doesn't surprise me that it would be dangerous to get on your person. Especially your eye! Ouch!

They cleaned my DEF tank and put it back in and when they took it for a test drive, the check engine light came back on. Mechanic is now at lunch, but when he comes back he's going to hook up the computer to the truck to do further diagnosis.
