I went to work for Design Transportation out of Dallas. I was there for 2 weeks only. I was fired. Right up until they fired me, I liked the company. But what we had there was a failure to communicate. That was not just there problem but mine as well. I also had a customer complaint. It took me too long to back into the dock. He also said I tied up his dock for too long. I was out of hours and had asked permission
to sleep in the dock. I had moved during my 10 hours and still needed to sleep for 4 hours. The place that complained ended up not paying for the load. I was suppose to pick up a check from them but no one told me that. The very next load I had to pick up at the convention center in San Antonio. They did not have any bills of lading. So Design did get paid for that either.
I loved the truck I was in but it had no refrigerator. I got stuck at the Dallas yard twice. No showers or anything there. Heat was horrible and I thought the APU was out. Turns out I did know how to use it.
I am sure things would have been better, had I figured out how to talk to my dispatcher. We the problems hit, she just covered her ###.
I do recommend Design Transportation but be careful you screw up and they are not your friends. -
Does anyone know if they are using paper logs still, or have they switched to those computers? Thanks

Wow this definitely sounds like a driver issue no refrigerator? you've got to be kidding me!

It was a driver issue. I am delicate. My experience had always been with the best of everything.
Design and I just did not fit together. That is why I can recommend them and still wouldnt work for them again. Not that they would rehire me. I met many folks there who had nice things to say about the place but they all lived in Dallas area.
The one thing about the place I loved was they had an OPEN DOOR POLICY but had a sign on the main entrance that said drivers use the back door. -
well if you are delicate then you are in the wrong business my friend. I have been in it 21 years, it is not for the weak or delicate, it might just be time to exit the industry all together!platinum Thanks this.
