My left turn signal is feeding thru all the tractor and trailer parking lights and brake lights.
Disconnected trailer and still back feeding.
If I turn on the parking lights, the signal quits flashing.
I unplug rear brake light bulbs thinking it might have shorted together.
Also replaced turn signal switch on colum and no different.
    All suggestion appreciated.

I thought about a bad ground but also a bad ground normally would pull ground, not send power to the parking lights.
Getting power on both sides of the flasher unit when the parking lights are on.

Possibly a broken filament. Replace all left turn bulbs. Disconnect "pig tail".

bender, Flightline and JohnP3 Thank this.

No the power needs to go somewhere so if the ground is bad it will backfeed ....electricity always takes the path of least resistance

    2bit and MNdriver Thank this.

I found two wires melted together (left turn signal and tail light) in the wiring feeding the tractor rear lights.
Sure took a lot of time getting into the rear wiring harness.
But pulled these two wires apart and it fixed the problem.

good thing flightline didnt listen to u guys yelling bad ground...he would still have a problem. all the times ive had to deal with light problems a bad ground will either not let the light work or it will be real dim..

Glad you found it Flightline. Just went through a small fix with Western Star's wonderful wiring. A wire pulled (rotted) out of a plug feeding LF directional. Electricity will try to go somewhere. As 112 said, it will take next path of least resistance. In my case, it was trying to ground through parking lights.
And as heyn said, sometimes a bad bulb does the same thing. If "juice" cant get through bulb, it trys to go next easiest path. Electricity can do some strange and weird things when its normal path is interupted. :biggrin_25514:

    Yop.....a short to ground.....

It's leaving the circuit you want it in and shorting to a ground some where else.

Now, if the insulation was melted together. Why and what caused that....

Sounds like someone used the wrong bulbs in the trailer.
